MP3 songs from memory cards

... I noticed that the MP40 is considerably smaller than the multi-CD changer. Is it simple to fix the MP40 securely to the existing CD changer bracket(s)? I wouldn't want it to look untidy and/or have it rattle about whilst I'm driving!

The player is smaller than a cigarette packet and only weighs about 20 gramms (less than 1 ounce) Attach it with double sided tape where the CD player was installed under the carpet on the bracket holder. It can hold about 30 gig of MP3, and quite honestly I have not been able to listen to 10 percent of mine !

If you need help, I will send pics taken with my new Canon camera

Thanks again Chas...

Last one (for now!). I assume that all I'll have to do is just 'plug' the MP40 player in using the existing 'wiring plug things' (sorry to be so technical!), i.e. not even negligibly slightly complicated wiring necessary?

Absolutely correct. The two plugs, power and fibre optic, simply plug in to the player. No skill or expertise required :bannana:

Final thanks (for now!) Chas!

Use double sided tape to secure it to the bracket as in the pics

I neglected to buy a SD card (unless I 'borrow' back the one I gave our 7 year old daughter for her camera!). Will a 32gb or 16gb work?

So, the only way to get song titles on the Audio 20 screen and the multifunction screen is with the ipod kit?

2007 (56) W203 with 6-disc MB changer.

You have lost me .......... :D

But then again its 0230 and I'm at work

MP40 installed...

... COMAND now showing 'magazine empty' as I wait in anticipation for a SD card to arrive!

Useful extract below......

Title Selection
The left-right keys on your Radio or Navigation device let you step forward and backward through your song collection. Mercedes Benz cars with steering wheel controls let you do sequential stepping, too.

Folder Organization
When the number of titles on a memory card exceeds a certain amount it is advisable to introduce folders and to group your songs accordingly to this folder structures. The Mercedes Player MP40 can automatically jump into the next folder when the end of the current folder is reached. You can comand a forced jump to the next folder at any time when pressing the step forward button longer than usual. This provides you with the ability to find most songs in a quick manor.

Plug the SD card into your PC and arrange songs into folders. Maximum of 99 songs in each folder !

You can have 4 cards plugged in ( different types) which will represent CD1, CD2,CD3,CD4 on COMAND. Play is instantaneous, and you can use larger higher audio quality MP3 files.... 256 kb , twice the quality of standard 128 kb

... I wasn't aware there was a higher MP3 standard! Does that mean most of what I've downloaded (mostly from .ru websites!) all of this time are probably 'low quality' mp3s?

Hehe, for MP3 the highest normal bitrate is 320kbps :)

So yes, the quality is impaired but MP3 is a flawed compression technique anyway.

The main thing is, do the tunes sound okay to your ears?

If yes, I wouldn't worry about it.
