Mr undecided makes a decision shock

Aplogies for wasting a thread chaps - no fully comprehensive warranty on such a expensive to maintain car = no purchase

Come on now, be honest, you couldn't bear to get rid of the Lexus could you?:p

From the current threads....and it pains me to say it.....

The lexus will still be going when the Mercs in for work :(

Bland wanabee maybe but they do carry on...

My gs450 sel is a bloody good car, it's worth £9 - £11k in px and maybe £12k as a private sale - what to do ?
Fully specked cheap to tax comfy limo / straight line screamer with all toys and phone / stereo that impress.

Well I wear my car buying heart on my sleeve and one train of thought is to sell the SL and get a new convertible instead. Keeping the lexus for occasional use.

Being self employed I have to be realistic and may not get much in wages this year (I take a divi at year end) but I have cash built up but feel guilty spending it in case I need to put money into my biz or just support myself - hopefully this explains my very differing want list from day to day.

I'm also credit averse and don't want to take out any finance if I can help it

Today's bright idea is my targeted car from 2010 - maserati Grancabrio not sport - on a 2010 poss 2011 they lose 25% on day one but stabilize at £75k, I could have bought one last year run it or a year and only lost a couple of grand but had huge fun - I didn't obviously

I'm checking these out now to guesstimate where they will go in depreciation I think so far they are resilient

Check them out the price seems not o be influenced by spec it's mainly color

Anyone have an opinion ?

^ I would say crazy, running costs would be high and it will lose a lot. Times have changed, new models seem to be out quicker and quicker.

No chance would I guesstimate on a 75K car such as that what its worth, I don't think you could.

Your budget was 20K and you needed something kid friendly? you almost bought a £35K + CL63 (2 door ) and now looking at a Maserati @ £75k ?

Step away from the computer for a bit I say, stay off Pistonheads, autotrader and anything similar for a bit.

PS, I still think a E55 or E63 estate :)

I've kept away from everything for over a week, no car activity in mind or body.

The Mrs is getting a mini countryman to be a kiddy carrier however - her dodge is too high

I have to sell the lexus it's boring me to death and I need more excitement in my life.

Keep the SL55, use it more. Use the Lexus only when you need more than 2 seats.

The economy is shocking and I'd be inclined to batten down the hatches and hang on to as much cash as I could right now.

Wife has the Mini

You have the lexus

Is the SL for weekends?

Why not just get rid of the lexus and use the SL more?

Check the running costs before buying a Maserati. I have a friend you bought a quatroporte and was shocked that the servicing cost in the first year was about 4 x that of the s500 he had previously. I seem to remember the service interval being very short and the car seemed to be permanently in the service centre. Lovely car though.

Have you looked at the Bentley Continental GT?

I've seen some crackers for about £35k on AutoTrader...looks great and turns heads.

.

Thanks chaps, I've been lurking through past posts (historical lurking?) and the lurking combined with a feeling of poverty that comes and goes daily AND the fact I've just had the SL detailed and looking lush means a cheap replacement for the lexus will sait my automotive thirst.

I don't like using the SL daily as it feels less special when it's weekend hoon time so I've cleared out the garage to get 2 cars in and I'm looking for something interesting - if I said running costs don't matter (within reason) and note I said I've been historically lurking, there are a few MB club faves out there that always get mentioned.

I'm still smarting from the CL63 premature carjaculation and will only mention this new old MB once it's on the path.

If it happens I will be more MB than ever before and my indie (Steve & Rob) will roll out the red carpet.

Ever had a big American Muscle Car ? ?

Really fancy a dodge charger - may do so before I'm 50 as them welded up doors will play havoc with my lumbago lol.

I think some current yank imports will be getting cheaper as petrol gets higher - def one to keep an eye on, have you had one ?

Never had one but always hankered after one. Would most definitely need to be a big block V8.

Lad round the corner has a Ford F150 pickup and that sounds like Thor's Hammer.

Had an option to hire the big Charger when in Florida but not really that practical from the airport with a family and suitcases - we ended up with a V6 Jeep.

One thing will be sure - you'll love the noise, grumble about the aesthetics and switchgear, love the noise, hate the fuel economy, love the noise etc., etc.

They are probably the polar opposite of the Lexus.

duplicate.
