Some may know that we have had a little A class for some time now, I thought just over 3 years. Turns out we actually owned it 4 years and 4 months. Its been a great car and I know its sad but a little emotional to see it go. It collected our first born from the Hospital and has been such a great little car.

Since we are expecting another little one, time seemed right to move on. I have been looking at all sorts. Quite literally, VW's, C-Max, A3 Sportbacks, BM's, vauxhals and in all variety. Mrs A210 however has always liked the B class since they came out. So I started to look.

I so so nearly went for an almost new B160 BE at out local Chester garage, literally about half a mile away. However looking into them it was quite basic and the engine maybe not up to what we would want (as I can see me driving this a lot more than the A)

So I considered a B200 Turbo, but just like her A210 the performance would be wasted, its a model no longer sold although for the price of them you get a lot of car. I then started looking at the B180Cdi and B200Cdi's. What I noticed after probably looking at every B class for sale over the past few months was that the B200Cdi's seem to be quite standard spec, however the B180Cdi it seems were specced up a bit?

I then checked out the tunning / remap route / D2 Brabus kit and noticed that with some computer code you can get a B180Cdi to have more power than a B200Cdi....

Then to options, what do we want...Ok easy if buying brand new, tick what you want. Searching pre owned a little harder.

Main ones were:-

Silver
Auto
Heated Seats
Parking Sensors
Sports Wheels

So the search was on, eventually I tracked a car down at Mercedes Teeside. Silver, Sportpack, Half leather,Heated seats, Front and rear parking sensors, Audo 20 6 CD, Isofix. Ticked all the box's.

Did the 'deal' over the phone, drove up to collect the car on Saturday, Collection was as good as buying new. Flowers for Mrs A210 as we walked through the door, Bacon butty and coffee for lunch :) and the car was in the showroom ready to go. Full Service done. Paid for it on a switch card :) showed all the main controls. Parked next to our old car to swap the stuff over and left for a day in Whitby...

Quite sad leaving the old car, but this really is lovely. I know a lot of people may think they are a bit ugly? but for our needs now it suits. I actually like the look of it, some neat touches and again a great use of space. Feels much bigger than a C class estate my brother recently had on loan.

I like it so much that we are due to go to Europe very soon and rather than use mine I swapped the green card etc to use this :)

only a couple of pictures for now of the car, will take more soon. Oh and a few of Whitby. 350 mile round trip, 46mpg @ 70 and also a bit of fun in the lanes.

Full report as it will soon be doing 2K to 3K miles to France :)

My girlfriends dad has just bought a B Class and I'm actually very impressed with it.

Nice car A210 - enjoy it!

Congratulations on the new car. I take it my mate didn't get in touch about the A210? He told me he liked the pictures but looks like he was too slow!

Congrats it looks fantastic!! :thumb:

Very nice B-class, probably the spec I'd choose too. My parents have had a loan of most B-classes from the range over the years and the one they liked best was the B180 CDI auto, which they had on loan for 3 weeks. The B-class does feel much more like a large Merc than the 168, but I think that's part of the original A-class's fun. I hope you enjoy your B180.

Thanks People,

No one contacted me re the A class, a shame as they could have had it at a great price. Maybe it will turn up on here at some point.

As for the New one, yes its lovely to drive feels really grown up and rides very smooth. I'm planning for the rear windows to be tinted and a remap when we get back from holiday. A shame but not enough time to do it before. The remap apparantly should make quite a difference :)

Full report when back off hols :)

I had a remap on my A180CDI and another member on a B180CDI at the Angel Tuning tuning remap day and both were happy with the results.

Probably not a bad thing, at least you'll get to know exactly how the car drives before the remap and might appreciate it more after.

Nice!!

The car may have gone to pastures new, but as long as you keep the same forum name it will live on forever!!

Well done. Excellent choice.

My wife had a B class before the EOS and it was a great car. So roomy and practical.

BTW I'm about to list my auto dimming RVM and black Ash designo trim on ebay if you are interested;)

^ Thanks

It already has an auto dip mirror :) not sure its a designo one though? if you have any other bits let me know :)

I've just bought a rear seat cover and boot cover for the stuff its going to be holding.

Thanks Bobby Mrs A210 was sad to say goodbye to A210.... although not too sad now she's cruising round in her new car and has got use to an Auto Prety quickly :)

Nice car- well done.

We have the black ash trim in our B- its very nice & understated & has lovely detail when the sun shines on it.....

Nice pics too. Just come back from 3000 miles in France myself - wonderful - enjoy the trip.
