HI everyone. I can't see a topic on this so hence the new thread. I got a C200 at the weekend with COMAND. However, now I have it I have realised that I should have opted for the Multimedia interface as both me and the wife have iphones. The question/s are:

- Can it be fitted aftermarket?
- How much is it?
- Who can fit it?
- How does it work?
- It is worth it?

etc etc

I tried speaking to the salesman who sold me the car but he's about as much use as a chocolate tea pot!! :wallbash:

Any information would be greatly received.

The media interface (sometimes known as UCI) is the "fully" integrated iPod kit, with control from the stereo's screen.

It can only be fitted if your car has
Audio-20-CD WITH CD changer
Audio-50-CD (again, I think with CD changer)
COMAND (with or without DVD changer)

as the basic Audio-20 without CD changer does not have the necessary fibre optics connection (but often its worth checking, because this doesn't seem to be hard and fast rule).

It can be retrofitted by specialists like Comand (Europe) Ltd - Great Deals on Mercedes Comand & Retrofitting Installations - so can the more general iPod kit which uses the instrument cluster and steering wheels only for control.

Another alternative on the W204 C class with Audio-20 is the 'Universal Media Interface" - This is a great device that gives you Navigation, full iPod control and bluetooth music streaming (from a device that supports it such as iPhone, later Nokias ...)

Cheers

Hi Richard - that's good advice. How much do you reckon - ball park figure - for an aftermarket UCI if COMAND is already fitted?

Ask Alfie (PM him!) - kit of parts is about £429 + leads (either the set of 3 leads, or a lead to connect to the iPhone cradle), but its a glovebox out job and needs real Star Diagnosis to tell COMAND that it is present.
