Hi all,

It's with a very heavy heart that i have to write these words, confirming my 23 year old W124 300D has been stolen.

I have cherished that car since we first bought it, all those years back... and now, some schmuck has decided they were going to steal it.

I'm not going to rant on about how bad I feel. There's no point.

But what I am asking is if there is anyone out there who is offered a 1989 W124 in mint condition, with 165,000 on the clock, please ask the police to check it out.

Any information will lead to a substantial reward.

Where was it stolen, colour Registration No etc. Very sorry to hear of your trouble

the plates were private, 3MBP, but i'm pretty sure they've been changed by now.

the colour is white, stolen in west London.

the badge had been stolen on saturday night, so the car was without gun target.... sunroof doesn't function properly, and the cover for the central console is missing.

has Vredesteins Sportrac 3 (distinctive V shaped tread) mounted on the back, and dunlop all weather on the front. 205/60/15

Apart from that, it was totally original. Alloys were the 15 hole ones.

thank you

Will keep our eyes peeled - certianly some distinctive marks there.

Nice car & plate...

On it's way to Africa I'd expect. Not a lot of money in trying to punt it on as a ringer I wouldn't think.

Hope the insurance sort you out quickly.

Really sorry to hear that. :( Will keep a look out when I'm in London.

Very sorry to hear this .

If it has been ' Twoc'd ' by a joyrider or the like it may be dumped and there is a slim chance you might get it back .

More likely , I'm sorry to say , is that it will have been stolen to be stripped for parts or to be exported and very unlikely it will surface again .

It would be nice if we could report such things to MB so they could put a marker against the chassis no - then if anyone tried to order parts against that chassis no it could be flagged up as stolen and the police alerted for the customer coming back in to collect said parts - but that would be too simple .

Sorry to hear that , but agree with Martin

Diesel + White + Indestructible w124 = in a container to Africa already.

Sorry.

Not what he want's to hear, but there is a premium paid for older mercs, couple that with the enterprising eastern's,we with our older cars ought to be more security concious.I do tend to notice any merc on the road and will keep an eye out.I am sorry to hear this has happened.

Sorry to hear that but I also think that it will be in a container on its way to Africa.

Scum.

^^^ i think this is a top idea by PONTONEER, and should be considered by mercedes.

good idea in theory, but the problem is - whats in it for MB apart from extra processing and costs?

My theory is that there is no better advertising for MB (or any other car manufacturer) than having as many of their older marks seen on the roads as possible.

The further they go to support owners, in whatever way possible, to keep their older car on the road, the better it must be for the brand.

How rotten. As a fellow White 300D W124 owner I feel your pain.

Trouble is , where it's going they will make their own parts on lathes by the side of the road. Unlikely it will ever see a dealer again.

can i add, that some one tried to steal my 124 cab few days back..

came back and the garage door was open and the over removed.

the garage was blocked by 2 cars anyway, so the 124 was not going anywhere, but some one has their eyes open and had was inquisitive enough to open up the covers.

this was in stanmore, so something is going on.

but i am sorry to hear of your loss, and i sincerely hope it is found. my eyes are peeled.

at times like this, the iphone app that allows you to view all the cameras on roads is useful, and everyone could take time to look up 1 or 2 cameras and by chance, it may pass by??
