My car is definately not normal...

I think you are pushing a point which really is not relevant.

Perhaps but i think you are suggesting dyno dynamics dynos are accurate to within 0.1% of each other , this is simply not the case and shouldnt put any particular make of dyno above another.

Dyno's are a tool and should be used as such. As a before and after comparison tool they are extremely useful , to simply dyno and then re-dyno a car without making any changes seems pointless to me

I am very much saying dyno dynmaics in my experience are better than others I have used/witnessed.

I am not saying they are always consistnet to within 0.1 BHP of each other, but if they can be on occassion and perhaps more realistically within low single digits of each other common place, that's good enough for me.

Quite, not sure why people do that. An unecessary and not insignificant strain I would have thought.

One question though. As i'm not sure if my car has been mapped already (cuz it isn't 100% normal in my opinion), if it was mapped prior to this without my knowledge, will DMS restore my car to what it was originally? or will they have a stock standard C230k program to re-write what they've done?

Where's the rev limit? Might be a clue to if it's already mapped.

it bounces on the limiter at about 5800-5900... where did urs bounce?

Just got off the phone with DMS. Guy named Mike Cooper spoke to me, and garaunteed me that if they did not reach the 24bhp, 20ft lbs of torque increase he quoted i wont pay a penny. But they're upto their eyeballs in work, and will have to book my car in next year!

I think that's who I dealt with. I was told they were busy when I first contacted them, wouldn't dyno the car but eventually sent out a mobile guy.

My limiter moved from about 5900rpm before the remap to about 6500rpm after.

Personally I would get the car on a dyno and have a look at the way the car is running, the fueling at high load, ignition, timing etc.

Make sure the car is 100% under a high load condition before even thinking about tuning.

Dave!

is this 6500 rpm redline dangerous in anyway? surely MB were being safe by putting it to 5800? And when u go into 6k rpm and beyond.. is the car still pulling? or is the torque dying?

I mean i can only imagine that the 6500rpm they gave you would help you dash quicker to 60. At the moment i have to change from 2nd to 3rd at 58mph

Hey Dude! If you think you can throw around a couple of "totally tubulars" and pass yourself off as a surfer, you're a real hodad with the IQ of a Malibu Barbie.

This is whare DMS get the additional BHP from. As the revs rise so does the BHP due to more revs.

If for example the max BHP is 192 at 5800 rpm and the torque stays approximately the same through to 6500rpm then the new max bhp will be 215bhp with no other input.

Umm..23 bhp gain.

Yeah i thought that too... but in my opinion my c230k seems to be lacking torque the closer to the redline it is, especially if i'm in 3rd gear or any higher gear.

So they must make some torque out of improving the fuel/air mixture .... no? surely the whole 24bhp they quoted cant be just out of this redline extension? :(

If the power drops off at the top of the rev range faster than it picks up at the bottom, its quicker to change gear than hang out the revs, despite the extra power, you want proper performance figure increases not rolling road results.

Ask em how much faster the car will go, how much faster it will get to 60, how much faster it will go 50mph to 100mph?

They probably advance the timing a bit as I'm fairly sure they won't alter the mixture.

A good percentage of their increase will be from the higher rev limit.

Most of it will, but the additional 20ftlb will be at lower revs so will be timing/mixture related - running closer to 13.5:1 (or possibly lower) at full throttle, which will also allow more agressive timing.
