My new C220cdi sport estate

Looks great, congratulations!

Maybe *** cos he could be confused for a bird from some angles.

You're doing the Ramadan Hallucinations again, aren't you ?

Just like it was time for the lowered coil over suspension.
It wasn't a coil over kit. Just better springs and dampers and his car was epic. Totally his own choice.

Lol, hell even you look good

No need to get defensive, it makes it sound like you encouraged him to buy because you are a dealer in Eibach and Bilstein products... LOL

And the nett result;

A car that handled well at the expense of bottoming out on undulating roads due to being too low, and tyres that lasted no time at all due to excessive camber due to being too low....and a change of car to something that handled better in standard trim.

Is the undertray really meant to be whacked off the car on undulating roads?

The best advice he could have had would have been leave it well alone and change the car if the handling really is an issue.

The car bottomed out because he drives too fast for the particular road. Eclass Mercs are not designed to cover ground like a rally car. His car has had an off a some point where something has been bent causing his excessive tyre wear. We have and have had a number of cars which have been lowered and do not suffer from excessive wear. The fact that we deal with bilstein and Eibach has nothing to do with it. Steve knew himself that the eclass is the wrong car for him. A bm or a c class is exactly what he should have bought in the beginning.

Whatever, the springs and bump stops should stop contact with the road surface.

You can see the excessive camber in all the photos of lowered W211, his was obvious and caused excessive tyre wear.
Do you advise all those that you attempt to sell to that they will not be able to get the camber into spec so will suffer tyre wear?

No car using McPherson strut suspension will be able to accommodate lowering without additional work to rectify camber problems.

Another good example.

Depends how low you go and the suspension kit.

Mines on H&R Coilovers and once fettled on a Hunter rig, the geometry is sweet!

Here you go DM, not bang on at the offside front but near as dam it.

Yep learned that the hard way. It was fun but I wouldn't lower a car again, first and a last for me since living with one.

HB, surely the point of fitting such a set up was the facilitate faster driving. Only on dead smooth surfaces could a faster than standard oem set up would the kit offer. Laterally they got the camber just within spec but it still looked way more negative than stock.

Very nice car, Steve. Hope you enjoy it. :thumb:

Have you ever posted without mentioning food? :D

It's got two years warranty so no mods etc.

It doesn't need chipped, the short final drive sees it accelerate more than amply and it handles, drives great.

I must add there was work to sort the allignment and latterly HBs indie did sort it FOC but it took 3 attempts, after 700 miles it shredded it's front tyres, then the realignment it again and the tracking was out, camber way out, they then allignmented it again and it seemed ok but visibly oddly stood and way more negative camber.

In short, it was a lot of hassle I simply could do without for an improvement I struggled to justify on our poor roads with led to damage to the front wings, as the wing was dented and the indie vehemently denies it was them, so it must have been the wheel hitting the wing when it bottomed out and I've never dented a car in that manner. If it was the indie that creased the wing then they've lied and owe me money.

The dent is one caused by the bottoming out and tyre catching inner lip.

In the 40k miles I did it before I never did that to it until its lowered. It's got camber adjustment bolts fitted but these weren't initially fitted, I had to munch a set of tyres to discover this was an additional needed part.

I've seen the advert for my car in your website, you best word it as Bilstein B12 pro kit with Bilstein B12 dampers and Eibach lowering springs.

Looking good - its not about speed, its about arriving in style. Blacked out windows and the improved mirror design - nice.

The electric boot still makes me smile, when it works!

Congrats on the car, mine is the same except in Palladium Silver and a whole lot dirtier. Fuel economy does improve. Done Stafford to St Albans today averaged 60mph, but mostly on cruise at 75 or so! on M6 and M1 and did 52.4mpg. 67k on the clock now and only just run in.!! I was going to trade it in for a new e class a few months ago... Looked at all of them even the convertible,!! but parked in the street, looked back at the c class estate and thought!! That's one good looking car, why spend the cash! They look great even when dirty.!
