Hi guys - been subscribed here for a while but not posted!

Bought a 2003 E270CDI in December, got about 8 miles and some rear-ended it quite hard, glad I wasn't still in my A class is all I can say.

Just got it back from the body shop - can't tell it's been repaired, very good job (MB approved shop) - Credit Hire company ran me an E280CDi for the duration of the repair (which was dragged out due to insurance and tool availability).

Looking forward to the ownership of this car, thinking about some small mods (xenons, audio etc) - will drop some photos on when I get chance.

Stuck a post in the engines section - got a noise in the autobox if anyone can help!

Thanks

tim

Welcome on board to a diverse bunch. I am sure that someone will have something to say about the prob.
Not nice beng rear ended but safety was one of the features that influenced us in our purchase.
Good luck.

Welcome to the forum. I've read your thread in the engine section. Were the noises there when you test drove the car or during your 8 miles of ownership? I only ask in case they are as a result of damage.

Welcome - sorry to hear of your little incident - but glad you have the car back. I'd be looking to see if the bump has done any undiagnosed damage too ;)

Oh that was unfortunate....

As has been said the noise could be due to the accident..What exactly is the noise and when does it occur?

I don't remember the noise from the test drive but I only had a brief drive in that car (had gone to buy a 220CDI and had an extended run in that, the 270 was next to it at the same price but with about 10k miles more and the less attractive blue interior) and the extra power made my mind up!

There was a 320CDI with full AMG body and wheels as well, 1 yr older - I resisted....

The noise is at low speeds, a low groan/whine type noise, mostly in 1st and 2nd, you get it under gentle accelleration and also on decelleration. Quieter when cold (though the turbo is noisier when cold).
