My new WHITE C63 AMG....finally!

Very nice very brave - bet you had a few sleepless nights before collecting! the collection experience seems a good idea Im sure I will have another Merc before I croak
Ive decided not to collect the Jag from Gaydon as its a shi*hole - not quite the Merc experience hey !!!
Detailing - Palmball you must be a youngster because I thought detailing was what you paid the detailer to do :) I use Matt at off your marks near Manchester now (he moved) to see the DB9 detail put AMDB9 into youtube
Maff Astons are not as fast in the real world as the groupies make out as Im sure you remember, my own is only 450BHP but i have used a 510BHP for a few days and my old CLS55 was quicker and apart from handling was a easier car to live with (however on a sunny bank holiday its Volante time) and I think on a open twisty A road the Aston probably would have had you.
The Jag XFR under test drive conditions seems to be a natural successor to the CLS55 - Due July ish

The paint looks lush as well, really deep (I know its hard to tell on photos but it looks "solid" and "white") - good call

WOW!! That is utterly, utterly, utterly, utterly, amazing. I think thats my next Merc. I know the fuel consumption is terrible but its gotta be soooo worth it (eating, paying bills, mortgage etc. is very over rated anyway).
Congratulations very nice car :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Superb car and colour combo, Palmball
And many thanks for the write up, it's great to get an insight in the collection process :thumb:

RE: Paintshield.
The dirt could just be some of the adhesive the would have used.
My brother had his BMW Ventureshield protected from new. After a week, it needed to be cleaned up a bit around the edges, and one small area did start to lift from the bodywork. We just contacted the company, and they sorted it, no question asked, not a problem.
My Dad was so impressed, he had his car Ventureshield protected after his front bumper and side skirts were painted. And when I had new paint applied to my Audi's front end, I had the area Ventureshield protected, too.
I was advised that it would take about a couple of weeks, maybe a month to set completely. I was further advised not to pressure wash the area in this time.
If you've only had the front end protected, I would recommend getting Paintshield applied to the sides, side skirts and side of the rear bumpers, too. She looks stunning, so you may as well keep her that way :D
The BMW had the plastic put on the front bumper, half way up the bonnet, head light, door mirrors, half way up the sides, side skirts, sides of the rear bumper and on top of the rear bumper across boot apperture. It cost a little over £1000, but after nearly 20,000 miles, my brother can already see the plastic has been doing it's job!

Back on topic, I hope you enjoy your new car as much as the last C63 :thumb:

Love that colour combo! :thumb:

Didn't actually think that MB UK still offered the interior colour though.... only grey and black.

Congratulations on choosing a superb looking car. I love the colour combo inside. White looks really nice on the C63 but it will take over your life trying to keep it looking spotless. Much like your black one:D
Frightening to think you can get through 3 sets of rear tyres a year though:eek:

Congrats Palmball - I look forward to seeing it in the flesh :)

When I spec mine I'm going to try and make them supply 6 tyres

Thanks and yes, I did have a few sleepless nights wondering if I really had made the right decision on the colour, especially as this combination hadn't been done on a C63 in the UK before! Still, delight and relief when I saw it for the first time.

Youngster, me? At 31 would you class that as a youngster? I actually get a lot of satisfaction from detailing and simply like doing it (much to my very patient girlfriends' frustration!). Also, I have used detailers in the past (one very well known and slightly famous one in fact) yet despite spending big bucks having my car detailed (i.e £300+ for a machine polish ), it never seems to look as good as I can get it myself. I even do the bits you can't see :wallbash:

It's interesting to see what you say about the XFR. I very nearly bought one...in fact, after test driving one and being offered £12k off list for a new one they had in the showroom, I did buy one! However, I pulled out of the deal after I got back in my old C63 and preferred it...it just seemed more 'me' (you know, for a 'youngster' ;)). It's clearly not right to buy a new car when you prefer the one you currently have but that XFR was a great piece of kit although it was just a bit too big and not 'me'...yet.

Thanks for the comments....I'm pretty sure I'll be enjoying this one as much as the last!

Now, onto Paintshield...I really just don't like the product! I feel that it's one of those duress purchases - I buy it because I feel I have to in order to keep the dreaded chips off the front end. I had it on my black one and on my previous BMW M6 and in both cases, after the winter it started to lift at the edges. Now, I can't complain at the service as they replaced it on my black C63 just before I sold it, again with no questions asked.

On the white car its even worse as it gives the front bumper a yellowish tinge; its not faulty but it's just the consequence of having a secondary layer of film over white paint.

I have it because to me it's the lesser of two evils; a slightly discoloured bumper but one that stays stone-chip free.

Interestingly, the guys at Paintshield do have trouble with the C63 bumper; they reckon it's the most technical bumper they have to work on due to the vents and the closeness of some convex and concave areas, especially where the front wheel arches flare out so aggressively.

especially as this combination hadn't been done on a C63 in the UK before! .

Quite surprising, as it looks a natural combination, although I think it helps that the white has a linen/cream tint to it, and the leather is again quite creamy. A much brighter white might not have been so successful. Looks to me how a good old fashioned set of cricket whites might look.

So much better than silver and anthracite, which is now so yesterday....

Very nice.... have never really considered white before but I have to say that yours looks fantastic....

Palmball

Dont know why but I can see your car reg on the backshot of your car on my PC at work. If it really matters to you, you may want to try a different method of hiding the reg.

Regards

oh my god that is stunning!!
