My 'old' GL320CDI for sale at MB Park Royal

Having returned the GL320 to MB finance at the end of the PCP contract on the 1st March, I had a feeling it would pop up at an MB dealership.

Here it is:

The price surprises me a little, it was worth £32K, according to two MB dealers last month, this was less than the Guaranteed PCP end of contract value which was £33,100. To see it up at £38K is surprising, and there will be a significant margin in that I expect. After all, it has a years MB warranty remaining and I had it serviced 4 weeks ago. Prep costs for the dealer will, therefore, be minimal. Not to say it will sell for that much of course. I also suspect that it went through a closed MB auction and it would have sold for less than £32K.

I think that's one of the MB Retail owned 'MB London' outlets.

Prices on all nearly new SUVs have bounced in the last year or so.

In December 2008 I went to view a 12 month old 57-reg GL420 CDi with 30,000 miles for sale at a Toyota dealer. There was a nasty scratch (starting to rust) which put me off given MB's ability to rust without encouragement - plus my risk averse nature given the state of the economy - and I decided against it.

It was stickered for £30k and the dealer was prepared to put the damage right and do a deal. I bet that car now - almost 18 months on - would be advertised at 15% more than it was then!!

Even with my old bus the value seems to have gone up slightly.

I would love a GL probably one of the few things I would swap mine for at the moment, would be tempted with a ML420 but mine does everything that will and no need to add £25K

GL was changed for a Volvo V70 as a motability car for my son. I am getting a Skoda Octavia vRS CR TDI as my daily driver - deal was simply too good to say no!

That was the one annoyance of the GL, the trip computer displayed an average of 24.6 mpg over the last 6000 miles - I will not miss that! I did take a shine to a new White CLC 220 CDi Sport Auto with pano roof, just before the GL went. I was tempted but the dealer didn't try hard enough for me, I was also put off by poor reviews. The vRS was considerably cheaper and is probably the better all round car. Hopefully I will not be seeing too many petrol station forecourts in it either!
