My SLK has been stolen………….by my wife! After months of complaining about the lack of space, road noise etc, wifey has stolen my car since the heat wave began! This means I have to drive her beemer diesel estate! I don’t mind her clocking up the mileage, as it means the SLK gets a good run (I only do four miles a day), but I’ve noticed that both front wheels have been kerbed, one quite badly and the drivers door has lost a bit of paint where it has been opened to wide and caught the garage wall:crazy: To top it off, I’ve caught her (twice), putting bags of shopping on the bonnet and then dragging these off  On Sunday, she went to the garden centre and put a box load of plants on the boot lid, while she decided what to do with it:devil: I’ve bitten my tongue so far, but thought I'd let off steam here:rock: I know it's only a car, but I reckon the wheels are goiing to cost around £100 to repair and the bonnet and door will take be at least a half day to polish out and touch up:(

Personally, I can’t wait for the heat wave to end:crazy:

Send her to the garage to get a quote for repairing the alloys. Then politely suggest that she pays - retire to a safe distance first!!!

"Now Mr Dagd, please tell the Court this: when was it you first had the urge to cruelly humiliate your wife by forcing her into driving a BMW??":D

That is absolutely shocking and my sympathies go out to you. If that were me, I would notify the police for GBH to my property?:D

LOL :D yup my OH rather likes the SL when it's hot, especially as the aircon in her Audi has stopped working! She's pretty careful with it though so I can't complain.

Re. the doors, I keep a short piece of that grey foam pipe lagging in the door pocket. If I have to park close to a wall I just slip it onto the rear edge of the door ... then you can open it wide without any chance of damage. Doesn't sound like there's much chance of getting your wife to bother with that though!

glue some carpet to both sides of the garage wall's where the door's would touch,, easy,,:D

kerbed wheels,, next time buy tyre's with rim protectors,, :D

or the best solution,, hide the key's,, from the OH,,

Tell me about the alloys!!

If ever my wife needs to go out, she always takes my Merc out of preference. Every time I tell her to mind the kerbs.

And does she .... ?

I think for Christmas I might just give a nice shiney new wheel or 2, to replace the damaged ones on my car!

If it were my missus she'd only do that once - there would be no second time.

   I nag my OH if he comes even close to thinking about doing any of those things. It would be divorce I'm afraid ;)

My Wife Isn't on the insurance of the Mercs, I had a Mundano :o with some nice alloys on and as she pulled out the drive she hit the kerb the other side of the road and done the complete diameter of the Rim..  So thats it never again..

I'm with Ady on this one! I'm insured on her car, but my car is mine alone.

Hmm .. I obviously haven't got the hang of this, she's insured to drive both of mine but I'm not insured to drive hers!

Yeh Right! The really annoying thing is that she has had her BMW for three years from new, driven 50,000 miles and there ain't a scratch on the paintwork or the alloys:devil:

the solution is:-

buy yourself a new SLK and let her keep your old (now damaged) one

But there's not enough room in it (unless it's sunny  ).

Got to be an instant ban if you value the relationship!

Begs the question why used car sellers like the 'lady driver' description so much. It's always women that put stuff on the roof or the bonnet and drag it off, they're typically not interested in maintaining cars (I have a friend who bought a car new and basically ran it until it blew up) and when it comes to driving the pattern is often rev it hard unnecessarily, change gear too late and race up to junctions and apply hand brake before stationary (never using the release button, naturally).

While I'm having a rant, why are so many cars advertised as having had doctor owners? What's so good about that?

I apologise for such outrageous sexism. But you know it's true.:D

Off the top of my head, I suppose Doctors generally earn more money so can afford to look after their cars better, are more likely to drive their cars sensibly compared to chavs etc, maybe if they are consultant medical doctors they might have a designated parking space away from the normal hazards of everyday motoring/parking mayhem, probably have a big house where they can keep the car safely garaged... etc etc??

Just guessing :D ;)

Today and yesterday it has been soo hot that it has been impossible to comfortably sit inside any vehicle without air con! Most of the soft tops I have seen these past 2 days have had their roofs/windows up so they must be utilisng the air con

A friend of mine has soft top and she was said that yesterday the heat was so unbearable in slow moving traffic that she had to put the roof up and revert to air con...
