Good evening, all. I've found out why my aircon system was low on refrigerant - a leak in the condenser. High-tech detection system - a spray bottle of soapy water! New condenser needed for sure; not a problem.
HOWEVER... I noticed that though the red EC light was on, and the compressor was not running, the (disengaged) clutch was turning ever-so-slightly at idle - a fraction of a turn at a time, then stopping, then moving again. There's no air gap between it and the drive pulley that I could measure, or visually apparent, and when I turn the clutch by hand (engine cold) it sounds as though it is rubbing; again, ever-so-slightly.
As usual, I can't find anything on WIS (I've tried; for forty minutes I've tried...) about adjustment. Can anyone tell me, firstly, is this behaviour normal, and secondly, where the adjustment info lives?
Tearing my hair out again... Who would ever have believed I would long for a Haynes, faults and all?
