I did live until I met my wife.
Would you want to live when you have a wife and 5 grown up daughters?
As my youngest so eloquently said “Dad, you sold your soul to the devil the day you met mum”![]()
I used to enjoy washing my own cars, but a quick wash was never quick, and to be honest I never trusted anyone else to wash it.
However I found people who I trust to wash it and I take the time back to spend it with my family. These days they’re washed whilst I work.
Funny isn’t it. She never complains when I have her tea ready for her when she gets home from work every night, clean the house, leave the toilet seat down, rinse the sink after a shave, etc.
As well as not being safe for you having wet hands when it’s so cold, it can’t be safe for the paintwork either? My other half knows I'm a bit mental when it comes to my car and keeping them well cared for. I'll be outside regardless of the temperature to give my car a once over. I giver her CLS a clean at least every 4-5 weeks when I can so she can't complain and she does bring me cups of tea.
I have been known to rinse snow off my car to clean it so I can't say I'm not dedicated. I do recall finishing up a car I had back in about 2009, by the time I'd finished the water had turned to icicles under the car and the thermometer showed -7 inside the car haha
You're not alone OP!![]()
I like to go on long journeys in a clean car, especially holidays. When I washed my cars myself I always got carried away, and I remember one time we were planning to get up and leave very early to go on holiday, and as I hadn’t done it I started given the car a quick wash at about 2100 in the evening.Usually I half fill the buckets with hot water so they're nice and warm, on the occasions I've just used the hose it's a tad chilly on the hands but they soon get over it! haha
In terms of the car itself, the only thing it does is make it trickier to dry but then if the paintwork is hydrophobic enough from wax/sealant then it's ok. It's certainly still warmer than frost or snow on the car anyway.
I mean to be fair the -7 example was an exception. That said if there's a cold snap, I'd rather be able to get all that nasty road salt off the car if I can.![]()
Exactly the same as me and the wife.Ok, just wondered if there were any similar people out there!
My wife and I had some what of a ‘debate’ yesterday after I had spent 3 hours cleaning my car in the cold conditions (at least it was dry).
Over Xmas there was just one thing after another, I did loads of travelling on crappy, dirty roads, the kids were in and out with their dirty shoes and as Xmas progressed, I have to admit I got more and more ‘stressed’ about the condition of my car and not being able to get time to sort it.
So after ticking all the chores and to do stuff, I got my hands on the car yesterday and have to admit, felt much better after it was clean and shiny, inside and out!
My wife thinks I have deep psychological problems! Am I alone? Should I seek help?![]()
