My wife and my car!

........... boxes of cleaning materials keep arriving and disappearing into the garage

..........

I have a similar problem - I like trying different products and end up with a lot of half used products which end up getting given or thrown away...... It had crossed my mind to see if a swap shop was feasible where people could swap partly used product.
These are old pics posted before and sadly, - stock has incresed

you clean the house?
drop the toilet seat?
you ain't lived man!

I did live until I met my wife.
Would you want to live when you have a wife and 5 grown up daughters?
As my youngest so eloquently said “Dad, you sold your soul to the devil the day you met mum”:D:D:D

Our house is generally spotless , my wife's car generally needs cleaning. My stock reply when being ribbed about cleaning my car is "how often do you hoover your house , is it really worth hoovering it today as it will be dirty again in a few days " conversation rarely gets much further.

you so unlucky, we are 3 boys at home and only 1 girl lol

Thus I spend a lot of time cleaning my car, and it’s fast enough for a quick getaway when I need a bit of peace!
So happy they don’t live at home, but they are never away:)

I used to enjoy washing my own cars, but a quick wash was never quick, and to be honest I never trusted anyone else to wash it.

However I found people who I trust to wash it and I take the time back to spend it with my family. These days they’re washed whilst I work.

Wife will vac the cars and despite my protests my van too, with the kind of fanatical regularity,a speck and henry is out. Van is on a wash it when i sell it plan, the rest of the cars i see to.

I did that as well but couldn’t get anyone to do a job I was happy with. I do like doing it myself but totally agree about the time and where it could be spent.

Funny isn’t it. She never complains when I have her tea ready for her when she gets home from work every night, clean the house, leave the toilet seat down, rinse the sink after a shave, etc.

......"toliet seat down".......I soon stopped complaints about that. I'd put the seat and lid down together. "Please don't put the lid down".......complaints about my occasionally forgetting to put the seat down seat down soon stopped.

My other half knows I'm a bit mental when it comes to my car and keeping them well cared for. I'll be outside regardless of the temperature to give my car a once over. I giver her CLS a clean at least every 4-5 weeks when I can so she can't complain and she does bring me cups of tea.

I have been known to rinse snow off my car to clean it so I can't say I'm not dedicated. I do recall finishing up a car I had back in about 2009, by the time I'd finished the water had turned to icicles under the car and the thermometer showed -7 inside the car haha

You're not alone OP! :)

We even used to wash hire vans we got from Northgate before returning them. :)

As well as not being safe for you having wet hands when it’s so cold, it can’t be safe for the paintwork either?

Usually I half fill the buckets with hot water so they're nice and warm, on the occasions I've just used the hose it's a tad chilly on the hands but they soon get over it! haha

In terms of the car itself, the only thing it does is make it trickier to dry but then if the paintwork is hydrophobic enough from wax/sealant then it's ok. It's certainly still warmer than frost or snow on the car anyway.

I mean to be fair the -7 example was an exception. That said if there's a cold snap, I'd rather be able to get all that nasty road salt off the car if I can. :)

I like to go on long journeys in a clean car, especially holidays. When I washed my cars myself I always got carried away, and I remember one time we were planning to get up and leave very early to go on holiday, and as I hadn’t done it I started given the car a quick wash at about 2100 in the evening.

My mistake was deciding not just to give it a going with super resin polish but using the Autoglym sealant as well. I applied it all over the car, but when it came to wipe it off, it refused. It was probably 1430 by the time I finished.

Thinking about it, that was probably one of the last times I washed our cars myself!!

Ok, just wondered if there were any similar people out there!

My wife and I had some what of a ‘debate’ yesterday after I had spent 3 hours cleaning my car in the cold conditions (at least it was dry).

Over Xmas there was just one thing after another, I did loads of travelling on crappy, dirty roads, the kids were in and out with their dirty shoes and as Xmas progressed, I have to admit I got more and more ‘stressed’ about the condition of my car and not being able to get time to sort it.

So after ticking all the chores and to do stuff, I got my hands on the car yesterday and have to admit, felt much better after it was clean and shiny, inside and out!

My wife thinks I have deep psychological problems! Am I alone? Should I seek help?:)
Exactly the same as me and the wife.
It can be raining snowing and I'll be cleaning the car...... I can't stand going out in a dirty car.
Even under the bonnet must be cleaned and polished.

What everyone seems to have missed here is:_

WOMEN LOVE MOANING

in fact, they probably love moaning more than their favourite child (even though they say they haven't got a favourite).

So...do the kind thing: Give them something to moan about!
Fiddling with the car is a fine start.
