Hi, I had a diagnostic done at Mercedes for the SRS light on my E class w210 ,2002. They say its the Occupancy seat sensor, and 400pounds to fix it. As the cars 2002 its not worth this bill so have to do it myself.
I can get the sensor for 40pounds from Nick mercedes, but how do I proceed to strip the seat to access it. It looks a difficult job, has anyone a diagram and advice or tips on how to strip the passenger seat to do this job. Its a classic model w210 with electric tilt and lift cloth seats.
I GUESS THERES A PROCESS U HAVE TO FOLLOW OR YOU WOULD DAMAGE THE CLOTH

many thanks
Tony

I have replaced the seat cover on an A Class before and it wasn't too bad.

Once the seat is removed from the car lay a blanket down and turn the seat upside down.

On the A Class there was a plastic strip which was stitched to the back of the seat cover. It was folded over and pushed into a metal channel running along the back of the seat base frame. It came out quite easily by pulling one end of the strip. There were also similar strips down the sides. These were a bit more difficult to get to because of the seat runners etc but still came out fairly easily.

Once these have been released the seat cover should come off from the front of the base which in turn will give you access to the sensor pad.

Re-fitting is the reverse but you have to 'roll' the plastic strips back into the channels which is a bit fiddly because the seat cover will need to be streched a bit while you are doing it. Make sure they push right in otherwise the seat cover will not be taught enough.

Hope this is of some help, Leigh :)
