Negotiating the price of a used vehicle at a MB dealership

As an interesting quirk in all this, I just bought a C280 (see other thread - yawn !) and my dealer was desperate to sell to me as a customer at another branch of the same chain had already put down a £1k deposit (but knowing that I had first refusal). If it went to the other branch, the salesman from my dealer lost his commission, as he frankly admitted to me. They were also keen to get it sold and paid for by the end of the month.

On that basis and despite another willing buyer, I still got a year's tax and Starguard (together £825) off a £24k car + a decent p-x value for my current MB.

It just goes to show that there are so many factors at play that one does not always understand as a buyer.
