Network switch

Placed a few bids on the e-bay one, but wasn't prepared to go over £60 incl P&P for a second hand item. - it went for £64.50
The Misco one has gone.
But I found this and have just placed an order - £89.10 incl VAT and P&P

Venting

Cut holes in the doors that took 3 attempts to get right:crazy:
Off with his head!!!!!
Hey......I don't know anything about you cupboard? whether it could be vented discreetly at the rear? or?

Martin

Rear of cupboard is a shower cubicle in a bathroom
Sides of cupboard are Hall & Lounge
Front of cupboard is a door to the hall

The reference to the doors was a "long story" involving faulty doors which took the manufacturer many months to supply in the first place and many more months to accept responsibility for their cr@p products.
Replacement doors from a different supplier turned out to have issues which the manufacturer wouldn't even inspect so they went back unopened
3rd set of doors finally fitted some 4 months after we moved in.
All in from start to finish this saga took between 11 & 12 months:wallbash:

You weren't to know:thumb:

Due to house heating & venting method, the door has a 10mm gap under it. It wouldn't be too difficult to cut a high level vent in over the door to allow an air flow if necessary.

I had to replace a switch in a fairly warm environment so replaced with two (for resilience) HP 1810 units probably 5 years ago now.

Never had an issue and as Mark says, lifetime warranty.

Out of the box, they act as an unmanaged switch. You have to enable features if you want them.

They don't have fans but just operate up to a higher temperature.

I would be surprised if your cupboard ambient temperature exceeds the upper limit of certainly these switches anyway.

Switch turned up today - all the way from Poland - with a continental plug:doh:

You would think that a UK retailer would ship a UK product:dk:

Which one did you buy and where did you buy it from?

The AC adapter and the power cord are separate on these models - the AC adapter is universal, so it's only the power cord that needs to be replaced with UK cord - all you need is an '8'-shaped two-wire power cord which is pretty standard for DVDs etc:

£1.80 with free delivery...

But check the Amp rating of the original cord (the one in the link if 5A).

Nope
The power cord has a built in transformer with continental 2 pins.

I've e-mailed Sinetic to ask them to provide a UK power supply or adapter (but I'm not holding my breath)
It's a simple 2 pin to 3 pin adapter - but I'm pi**ed off that I've waited since 12th Dec & now I've got to trot to the shops to buy an adapter.

Ring the seller and tell them that the product they delivered to you is 'not fit for purpose', due to not having a UK plug.

By law, they must provide the right UK power plug etc.

I have done this and they do normally respond because they don't want to be put out of business.

They are not a UK company, just a Polish company who have registered a UK domain name and telephone number.

Might be worth finding out status of warranty with HP as they may class these as grey imports ?

I'm not 100% sure but I think they still have to supply goods that are fit for purpose in the markets to which they sell to...UK in this case. Maybe check EU consumer law online with search term 'fit for purpose'.

Grey imports from within the EU is something that HP just put a brave face on because there is nothing they can legally do about it. So the warranty is safe.

I have bought many items that have been imported from Europe that had 2 pin euro plugs fitted. One call/email to the seller about not being fit for purpose and I received a UK cable by post. Buy with credit card, ring supplier and demand uk plug/cable, if not delivered ring again and finally let them know that you will make complaint to credit card company due to goods being supplied not fit for purpose. It worked every time for me. Good luck.

We currently have a 4 port netgear router and an 8 port netgear switch, giving a total of 10 network connections which are all in use.

How does it give 10 ?

Cancel that, 3 left from router and 7 out from switch ( the internet with pictures is very useful )

8+4=12, but the uplink from router to switch removes 1 port from router and 1 port from switch, so 12-2=10
