C240 (W203)
I am a new user and this is my very first post. I have been browsing the site and reading and reading and reading for weeks now. I have a 52 plate C240 with the standard 16" star alloys and looking to upgrade.

Now I had my heart set on 19" from the start, nothing less. But tyre sizes would mean 35 front and 30 back. Everyone I talk to has tried to put me off this and advised not to do it and stick to 18".

Has anyone had 19" wheels on their W203 and had any major problems apart from the hard ride? I am looking to lower it afterwards also.

The wheels I'm looking at are Carlsson 1/16 or AMG VII (7), pics of examples hopefully attach. If anyone knows a good place to get these also, that would be great?

Cheers in advance!

Hello

Not keen on the first style and hard to keep clean, second style ok..on a silver car.

I had 19" Alloys on a BMW 330 convertible and at the time it was fine, it also had the //M sports suspension. Tyres were 30 profile and the main bug bear was parking the car...kerbs

Now I'm looks over ride all the time but I only do 6-7K a year. I want bigger wheels on my bus as the current ones are tiny but I have to agree it DOES ride nice on them. Wifes A210 has 17" and feels so much harsher when I drive that.

The amg wheels look the better set to me. I put 19s on my CLK for a year but found the ride too hard and when back to 18s - so if people are telling you 19s will give too harsher ride in your W203 - then i'd listen to them.

That first style is nice, i like it.

19" Alloys will ruin the ride, but dont think that 18" is going to be far more comfortable than that, its still going to be worse than your 16's. My car has 18's and i'm satisfied with the ride comfort, 35 profile in the rear 40 in the front. Any less profile than that and i'll probably feel its not satisfactory.

Mind out for the potholes with 19" wheels and very low profile tyres not only will the ride be hard but there is no give if you hit any deepish holes.....

Oh forgot to add, the wider your wheels become the more 'tramlining', or wandering your car will start to do.

Kerbs also start to come at you from all angles and there will be no way you will let anyone else drive your car :)

You even get paranoid taking it for a service so the muppets don't clip the kerbs....

Wifes car 2001 w203 c320 with 17" amg alloys terrible hard ride, my ride is hard with 18" amg but hers is much worse:D

The first ones for me i think they look awesome but you really need to get the suspension set up just right for them...

Yep, i like the first set too. As to lowering Bilstein either B12's or the 14's if you want them fully adjustable for the future.

First set look nice but 19in on a 203 will feel terrible. I have 17s on sport suspension and wouldnt want the ride any firmer.

I think the first set of wheels look great.... :)

I'm normally not a fan of multi spoke wheels but I agree, the first set look amazing! I'm in exactly the same dilema.. looking to replace my standard 16's with either 18's or 19's. Anybody got 19's on a w203 and happy? Have you lowered it? Din C240 where could get the first set of rims from and how much they are? Cheers, J

Wow! See now these are exactly the same, are these 9x19 front and rear?

Hi, they are very similar indeed!

Mine are 19", not too sure on width but I am taking the fronts off today so can look then! :)
