well guys , i hate to say this

but , ive been aftermarket to OEM and it takes a lot to beat the new parrot 3200LS wonderful piece of kit that works first time out the box and has superb call quality

and all for almost a 1/4 of the mercedes OEM price

Bluetooth UHi in my ML works like a dream.

I can copy any of my contacts to the Comand, or sync the sim card contacts, or use the sim card slot in the UHI itself to put my sim card in if you dont have a SAP enabled phone.

Cost was £267.27

Yes, from the factory.(Sindelfingen). Paid via credit card and that was the total cost after exchange.

Just got mine through the post yesterday. Works perfectly with my Nokia, picking up the signal as I step into the car, asking for the SIM password and then showing up the address book shortly after.

Tried it with a Motorola V3 and V3i, in a nutshell - the phone doesn't have the right bluetooth protocol. Motorola is now dumped.

Still a depressing lack of rSAP phones in the marketplace. Only Nokia is really supporting it properly (but then, they created the profile in the first place).

Looks like VW is very behind rSAP. Maybe the phone manufacturers will start to support it more widely with two major German car brands now supporting it.

Here's hoping.

My wife won't have a Nokia (historical reasons ) so until we can find a good phone that isn't a Nokia that supports rSAP it's the good old SE 610 for me

Has anyone tried any Windows Mobile 5 Device upgraded to AKU2 (last upgrade from Microsoft for WM5)?

It is supposed to support SAP. I was not able to try it yet because I don't have my car delivered. It is going to be delivered next Friday 4th of Aug.

I have purchased the Bluetooth module (The one with the extra headset) and I also have a QTEK 9100 with the last upgrade.

After I test it I will let you know what the result was.

No luck at all. The Bluetooth device can not even recognize my mobile.

So no compatibility with wm5 yet.

SAP has to be supported by the Bluetooth hardware and software mix - are you sure the WM5 support is supported by your Bluetooth dongle/hardware? (might be a code fix out there somewhere to add the profile)

Nokia 6230, 6230i, 8800
Siemens S65, SK65, SK75, SL75
He was categoric that this is not a 'catch-all' Bluetooth connective solution :-(

no mention of the Nokia 6021? Same board as the 6230 AFAIK...

Yup., thats all the SAP phones they have tested on.

There are 3 bluetooth modules, I have bought them all to play
a) US system which doesn't take over the ID of the phone - so the phone's antenna is used - will pair with upto 4 handsets and uses 'last one paired' as the first one to search for
b) EU system - looks identical, but uses SAP and thus is a phone in itself that takes over the sim id of your bluetooth phone - so car's antenna is used - can also have a SIM card plugged into it, then it behaves like a fixed phone
c) Same as B but with a handset you can pick up for privacy.

I've tried all 3 on my European cars with my Nokia 6230i which was just upgraded to lastest firmware - very little luck with (a) it would pair, but didnt work.

(b) and (c) work pretty well - the issues I have are ...

(1) as I have a pin code on my sim, you have to enter that everytime - its a shame the interface can't learn it or be told it
(2) It downloads the phonebook from the SIM - manual says if you dial 0000 it will download the phonebook from the phone and save it - but it causes the bluetooth link to break !!
(3) I haven't managed to work out whether it can pair with more than one phone.

Hi Richard,

Will try the 0000 thing. What I have done so far is to save my contacts from the phone to the sim card then save them onto the comand unit. That way I can pair my phone and use the comand memory for calls. The reason is that the sim only holds 1 number per contact and is pretty useless really.

PS I use a Nokia 6233 and that works a treat. Before that a 6230i.

I've been tempted to upgrade to UHI for quite a while. The lack of the ability to pick up the phone for privacy was always an issue for me. The bluetooth interface reffered to as option C by Richard seems to address that issue

However, I'm afraid that the PIN request would annoy me each time. That's a shame, but it's probably good news for my wallet

Please Clarify

I have been all the way through this thread and I am one of those poor people with a July 2003 W211 with the 6310i built in (but not UHI).

Is there a blue tooth module to replace this so I can use any bluetooth telephone?

Or

Do I still need to strip out my system and retro fit UHI BEFORE fitting the bluetooth?

All I want is the functionality I have now but my 6310i is slowly dying a death
