(we've got a 1 series too , but its not this shiny
)
Mmmm...it ain't too hot close up though. Requires some really abrasive cutting, especially the bootlid. Car was previously central London based....seems people in the big smoke don't look after their cars like the rest of us!
The experts say wax after sealant, it's to do with the way it bonds.
Sealant first to erm, seal the paintwork. Then wax to give the shine
I usually then finish it all with a wipe over with Last Touch detailer spray ..
Right...consider me told!
Although 'sealant' to me would indicate sealing in everything...inc. the wax!
Looks a lovely car, looking forward to your driving write up
Driving write up lol....well, it ain't like my C63 thats for sure! Will that do?
No?? OK then, here's a bit more...
I was going round a bend that had a dip in it the other day and it appeared to squat and run into it's bump stop at the back (odd, as it's not soft at all). Probably would have felt entirely normal had I not been used to the fancy (and well set up if I say so myself!) coilovers on my C63.
It's got runflats and whilst not as bad as I remember in my 335i (I guess they've come on in the last 3 years as it's just 4 new Dunlop RF's fitted which are a lot better than the Bridgestones RF's that I have experience of), they still make the ride feel a bit brittle over potholes and ruts. On the whole though, it feels like a very stiff structure and a nice tight handler, if not as composed as I'm used to when really pushing on.
Engine wise, the throttle response is fairly lazy and it seems to take an age for the revs to drop when you lift off but other than that it's lovely...very smooth and refined in a way that BMW straight sixes always seem to be. And it sounds good too...despite what people say about the twin-turbo unit not sounding as good as the N/A 6-cylinder BMW, I actually like the smooth, muted and deep sound that it gives.
