New car ordered!

Get the tints, sets the car off plus keeps passangers comfortable and at night less glare from headlights behind you...

Which shouldn't be an issue in a 350cdi...you'll be dusting practically everything in that thing:D
Except for v8's:(

i really like a black interior
many say its boring but its safe...

my wifes E350 estate has beige leather ooooh so loud

but as *** might agree a proper interior is cloth

Cloth rules, you can get half leather/suade in a 212 but most will spec leather, particularly on 350 examples. I was loaned a 212 with half cloth/suade and thought, thats nice, but I found getting the seat into a good position hard without obscuring the instrument display. Nice cars however....

You see, I don't know about that. Its down on power and up on torque. You'll find it pretty darned fast and so much easier on fuel and quieter too whenever you really rev it.

I had a lot of issues with the V6 but the newer 350cdi's no one is reporting issues yet and none of the 320cdi turbo seal nonsense is a appearing so I think you're in for a treat.

Handling wise, I'll be curious what you say, I had a CLS grand edition and a 212 sport back to back. The CLS felt more sporting with a lower driving position and firmer steering, but the speeds you could take the bends in the 212 seemed very very high...

Power/torque & fuel economy-thats what drew me towards the 350cdi,will let you know the difference in handling against the cls which for a big heavy car is good(airmatic is superb & a feature i may miss).

Just had a call from mb Croydon, arranged for collection of my new e-class & part x of my cls saturday week(snow permitting:mad:).

I do not believe the snow will stop you
you are probably planning for such occurrences as we speak:D

You bet-do you think the dealer will fit winter tyres for when i collect the car:rolleyes::D

No, as its pre reg it'll be supplied with summer tyres and they're wide on those, take it easy
I know Steve(just my sarcasm:D),had fun in the cls with summer tyres & wide rears before so know what to do...............hurry up & go snow:(

If it wasnt pre reg i think you could arrange it

however its not out of the question , might be worth a discussion
alternatively do as *** says take it easy then put winters on next time and run them all the year round ...i might do the same

I wouldn't run winters all year round. There is a vagueness to the handling and at low speed they grumble away making the car sounds like its got four knackered wheel bearings....

I'd be inclined to run summer tyres and not use the car in really adverse weather instead or fit winters. When winter tyres are on, your summer ones don't wear out so its not a massively expensive thing to do is alternate tyres for the seasons.

For the average couple of days a year we get lying snow it's not worth getting winter tyres fitted imho(i have access to another vehicle in any case so prefer the mb to stay safe on the drive:)).

what about these all weather tyres?
are they just variations on a theme or could they be suitable all year round

Hmm. A valid point.

I gave this link to BPSorrell for his Toyota.

Not as good as a summer tyre in summer and not as good as a winter tyre in winter, but better than a winter tyre in summer and a summer tyre in winter.

Perfect for those who cannot be bothered changing tyres when the cold and snow comes and goes

interesting

the C63 needs perfect footwear or its stationery
the 190E is treated like a baby ( doesnt go out if its cold never mind wet )
but the E350 might suit all weathers:dk:

I wouldn't want to run a high performance car in the summer on anything other than summer tyres for the best handling you can get. Kent gets a lot of snow, so winter tyres are a good idea. Actually, is a 450bhp RWD car that good an idea in really tricky weather, winter tyres or not?

The 190E is a garage queen. Just leave it on summer tyres.

The E350 will be your jobbing car, I don't know why you have that and an C63. One new E63biturbo and just swap the tyres over every year.

I guess you like tyres and buying lots of them. Try the all seasons out and see how you get on, the E350 sounds the right candidate for them.

It's a way off yet but when tyre change time comes around i might give the all seasons a go!
