Car
Subaru Outback
Hi, My name is Kevin and I live in Derby. I'm 54 and currently drive a Subaru Outback. It's a great car but I want a change.

In a few months I will be buying a friends 2001 M55 AMG. It's standard and in great condition. I only do around 7000 miles a year so the fuel consumption is not to big an issue. After all I do run a Subaru and they are not the most economical cars on the road!

The M55 has covered 125000 miles and I'm looking to keep it as standard.

The stereo head unit is the single din unit but I would like to fit the later double din unit which I believe is also a sat nav. Would this be a straight swap or is it difficult to do.

Any advice on what to look out for on the car would be welcome. It will be serviced by the Garage who service my Subaru, the current M55 owner runs the garage and services his own car.

I'm looking forward to getting the M55 which will make the Outback seen economical! The Outback has lpg fitted but unless I started doing a lot higher mileage I would not consider fitting lpg to the M55.

Hello and welcome, used to have a 2001 ml55 great motor, enjoyed every moment of it.
Used to get 13 or so mpg around town and 19-20 on a cruise on the motorway in mine.
As for the stereo, mine came with command which im assuming is what you are after fitting on yours, so would be no help in giving you advice there, but am sure someone will be along soon who knows more.

Regards Nic.
