Guys - I had my mechanic inspect the car properly yesterday (first time we've been able to look with rain etc)...

Anyone an expert welder who wants to do a very affordable job on my car?! Inner and outer sills, both rear arches and near side front arch all need welding. I'm scared that the cost will prohibit me from saving her from the scrap heaven. All comments (constructive!) appreciated!

I'm afraid I have to refer you back to my post 7--- SLC ownership can only be done on a limited budget if you are prepared to get your own hands dirty and get down to some serious DIY even if its only preparatory "stripping down work " prior to welding. Sorry to say this but I think with your limited experience you have maybe "bitten off more than you can chew" with this one!

Thanks for the post. You're right, it's more than I can manage sadly...
I've put a classified for both cars, just to see the interest (if any!) - I've got a couple of guys coming to give me a quotation for the welding next week. I hate scrapping things, seems too much of a waste! Just wish I had a garage to store it; as not in any rush!

Hi,
Just a quick update... I had sold my black SLC and a silver donor SLC on eBay last year. Transaction was cancelled as bidder couldn't afford to buy, instead offering to get the vehicle back in to a roadworthy condition for me. Too good to be true? Most definitely - I've not seen either of them since July 2012 and he's disappeared.
If anyone is in Leicester, please keep an eye out for them. Police aren't too interested at the minute, hopefully this will change as given end of Feb as a deadline.
Sad times, sleepless nights... Grr, remind me why we should be honest and legal?!

Just to update everyone... I have found the cars! By chance I was visiting garages in Leicesters asking if they had seen them. The two guys who run it were absolutely spot on when I explained the story. They'd carried out a lot of work, no expense spared.
The now 'middle man' has still yet to be seen. He still owes me my money as well as the garage. Good news is that I have the cars back, the black one has been garage stored since August last year!
