Looks nice. Did you compare it with any others, such as the Qashqai?

The Qashqai was the only other car I test drove. It was OK, but it didn't really appeal to me in the way the Yeti did - the quality of the Qashqai's interior isn't a patch on that of the Yeti's, and the more I look at the Qashqai the blander it seems. The Yeti isn't perfect, but it suits me down to the ground (yes, I'm not perfect either ). Should point out that there's a facelifted version due out later this year, although I happen to like it as it is.

Those twin turbo powerunits are very punchy from no revs - great fun.

Diesel sports cars do exist.

I could, but unlike Les, I don't fancy the journey! It's easier to just fly over and have the car there to use. And, because of the lack of depreciation there you don't lose much if you decide to sell later!

Just remembered I also drove the Range Rover Evoque, which was what got me thinking about a Yeti in the first place. Thing is, a decently-specced Evoque costs almost twice as much as a well-equipped Yeti, and I finally came to my senses when I realised that if I went for the Yeti I could also replace the SLK while keeping the overall cost within bounds.

I think he meant buying a LHD car here, driving it to Russia and leaving it there for next time.

OK, problem there is the HUGE import duty! We worked it out a while ago and it actually worked out cheaper to buy the car there! Putin's way of stopping private imports and it works!

I know, I'm a bit sad about it too! I may return to a CLS in the future, but for now I want a bit of roadster fun!
