With the level of equipment on Mercedes cars and the bloke type urge to "Get in and drive" being stronger than "sit down and read carefully read through the handbook" I'm guessing that there are a fair few people finding new little tricks or functions / features that their car has that they previously didn't realise existed that they could share on here with other users. Anyone care to share ?

How about listing your car make and model, what the new feature you discovered is and how to use / enable it

Found our recently that the E430 has ambient lighting.
I was completely unaware of it before members of the forum pointed it out to me.

S350 - tunnel mode
When you're about to go through a tunnel, hold the 'air recirculation' switch for a couple of seconds and all the open windows and sunroof close. Hold it again when you're out the tunnel and they open again to the position you had them in before.

While ago now but in the W211 E55K AMG, if you have MPH shown digitally in the centre of the speedo, it works in reverse...

Useful.

On a Y reg Alpina B10 V8 I once owned, I discovered it would lower the passenger mirror when going into reverse, and similarly with the current steed - you only have to put the key in and twist and let go and it will do the required starter-motoring for you. In previous cars, you had to wait until it started before 'letting go'.

That the driver side headlight washer doesn't operate when the driver door is open and window down...

Haven't checked for passenger side :)

W211 AUX IN in glove box - did not know until it was pointed my forum members

Can't find my AUX in the glovebox??
04 Reg W211. Any reason it isn't there or am I just going blind?

Too dark to check now, but yes I have got the AUX button on my comand.
I was looking at the far right end of the glove compartment so may have missed this.

Thanks:thumb:

It was an option, so you may not have it, but it will be on the right hand side in the glove box if you do.

I have the four zone climate control in my E500 estate. It's not a new discovery to me, but when the in laws finally discover it and work out what I've been doing to make them go hot and cold, I'm in for it! It's fun though!

If you hold a button in the middle console the roof comes off!!.

New E-Klasse COMAND

When hitting reserve fuel, the navigation function automatically asks if you want to begin navigation to the nearest fuel station (YES/NO).

I'm sure I'll have figured out most of the functions once I've driven it for the usual ten years or so:o

Finding out about one a day after the first month of ownership

Strewth - I'll have to double check mine!

E250 auto 2012, has 'hold' function on brakes whereby when you are in a traffic queue by dabbing down on the brake pedal there is then no need to keep you foot on the brake pedal as the the brakes are held in position. As soon as you touch the accelerator the brakes are released.
