(At least I'm not a hairdresser);)

But Rose Chap & I were simply giving reasons why people have been teased on the Forum. Not necessarily our own personal views ;) :)

Of course male SLK owners would already be used to such comments anyway! :D

PS the (male) hairdresser at the end of my road sold his R170 and got a very butch VW Touareg 4x4 instead ?!

Ian, welcome to the forum.

I have heard about them, But can't recall ever seeing one. They must be either very rare, or not a big seller for MB.

That's it.

They're in the citroen berlingo / peugeot partner market. Given the choice I think I know what I'd get... A Yaris Verso! ;) Just kidding, the Vaneo is cool :D

Ooooh! So now he can go and camp off-road. :bannana:

Back on-thread, I can see the attraction of the Vaneo as a practical holdall (coming from someone with a Citroen C8 in their drive) but a couple of years back when I expressed interest in one at an MB dealer, he positively disuaded me!

And Renault Kangoo, and Fiat Doblo, etc.

I see hundreds of these things at dog shows. The sliding doors are good, but the height seems a bit OTT!

If I get bored I might photoshop some big wheels etc onto a vaneo :)

oops, I just noticed that Brabus did that for real...

Absolutely right, it's the same target market as the berlingo multispace, only the citroen is about 10.5k with every option, and this retailed over 18k!

This is why I quickly discounted the idea, and was ready to buy a berlingo or a 2nd hand scenic... then realised that due to their rarity \ unpopularity \ image, an 18mth old one sells for the same as an 18mth old berlingo.

So for 8k, which was what I paid for it, do you go for something french and find yourself next to an identical plumbers van at the lights, or go german and know you will never see a similarily shaped van?

Keep the gags coming though, bear in mind my last car was a skoda, bought in 01 when they still were trying to shake off the "old" image, so I'm pretty thick skinned :D

Yes, brabus do a 2.2 conversion for vaneo... tempting but this bus wasn't bought for performance (no, really, can you believe that?), it was bought for 5up long trips, camping at motorsport events we go to, and something easy to drive with good visability as the wife's first car.

Welcome to the forum. :) Don't worry about the jibes, its mostly good natured and people are (all in good fun) mocked on this forum for many of the following reasons, none of which you should take too seriously.

  • Having anything other than a W124.

So don't worry about any of it, enjoy the forum, and have a good time driving your Van E O. :)

Rose Chap

That is one big crime, only succeded by having a sil.....silv.........Dull Chrome car :D

You want a Brabus Viano for that ;)

6.1 litres, 426 bhp, 621 Nm, 0-62 in 6.2 secs :D

My Father is in the market for a comfortable van-like car. He is a cabinetmaker so needs to move furniture to customers and my parents go camping every now and then so need the space, they currently have a Porsche 944, Seat Arosa and Vauxhall Astra estate between them.

He's collected a bunch of brochures for the berlingo and partner, but I'm going to tell him to get a vaneo!

:D I have a friend that works for an MB dealer, and have driven their demo Viano, it's a big ol' bus and (have we any viano owners here I can offend?) rattles and creaks a fair old bit compared to my vaneo.

Odd, as I think the Vaneo and Viano are built at the same plant... guess you can't argue with the laws of physics, a big monobox is always going to have more flex than a smaller one....

Have passengered in a few Brabus' over the years, CV8 and K8 are stunning engineering and performance.... one day... one day!

You close the door on a berlingo, you get a clang, you close the door on a vaneo, you get a clunk.

Add to that the vaneo has even more space.

This morning I was dragged to ikea, new sofa and some cabinets, only had one child with us but folding the "double" side down fitted everything with ease.

That looks great! Much better than some clattery French or Italian waste of time. Let's face it, the Vaneo has no "flair" but it's probably much more substantial than it's rivals. From what I read it's a hardy little thing.

I have just one question: Why does it have wing indicator repeaters? Why are they not in the door mirrors, isn't this car 2002+? Shocking. Mods required I think! :D

I do not believe it!! :D

We really must take our hats off to the DaimlerChrysler 'media handling' ;) department. I'm sure they could not organise a drinking session in a brewery (polite version) The old V-class was slated as being 'van like' so lets change the name, lets get away from the 'van' connotations, lets pay someone to come up with some names that will describe the product.

I know.......... Van - e - o

Or....... Vi - an - e - o

That will remove any suggestion that the vehicle looks like a van :p :o ;)

What a load of plonkers!!

Nice looking vehicle, but I prefer the bigger brother.

Regards,
John

I thought the Vaneo was built alongside the platform-sharing A-class at Rastat (Germany), whereas the Viano was built in Portugal at the Vito plant. I could be wrong, though.

Just looked at it in the gallery and know what? I quite like it. Its sort of funky in an obscure way.

The Viano is basically a re-trimmed Vito Traveliner, so I'm sure they're built at the same plant. I guess it has the same problem as the previous V Class ... build quality that's great on a £14k van is less than impressive on a £40k MPV.

IIRC the Brabus one was priced over 115k Euros when it came out a couple of years ago - that's £80k ... one expensive van!

Yes, am very sure the viano and vito are built alongside, just not sure where this little vaneo is built.

I *think* there is a "van" vaneo sold in some markets, but I've never seen a pic of one so who knows!

Common sense would say build it alongside the A-class at rastat, all the same bits are used.....
