New V12 Comand APS disk just released

Yes, V12 has Romania on it, I can see lots of big roads and smaller roads in big towns.

Richard

Ive now put V11 back in to compare. V11 seems to have Romania *but* only most of the main trunk roads. V12 seems to have much more details (i.e. small roads) in the cities and a load of extra trunk roads in the east of the country - I looked at Bucaresti and various others.

I guess that when MB officially declare it's existance (I would presume 3rd week of June) then there will be more info and I will put it on the comand online page mentioned further above.

Cheers

Richard

MB UK seem to have nicely edited the full press release. The salient point missing is that it only applies to MY2011 onward cars with COMAND-APS for the 39 European countries. It is transferrable to new owners.

I hope they will still issue regular updates to the dealers (who will of course be expected to install them taking up an hour of workshop space) rather than reducing the frequency of the updates down to once every three years :-)

My understanding is the first of these updates will be available foc to existing W212 purchasers in the UK who for the outlay of the pricely sum of over £2k have until now been saddled with a pretty poor satnav database. The map routing for the UK has been way out of date and some of the POI data has been either corrupt or missing.

Yes, I have V12, and Romania is selectable in the list of countries.

Give me the name of some other towns to look in, even some road names and I will check for you

That does makes sense. I know that the Mercedes dealers (but not the indepedents with Star Diagnosis) received a NTG4-W212 2010 map set with the May star diagnosis / wisnet / epcnet distribution.

Richard, try these: Cluj Napoca, Timisoara, Sibiu,Brasov, Constanta , Iasi in Romania.
Sofia, Varna, Burgas in Bulgaria.

I-ll have to go to Romania in july in Bucharest and Brasov for 1 week. Driving from London to Milano and then to Romania.

I only had time to check the Romanian ones before the wife took the car.

Cluj is there (but just as Cluj)
Timisoara does not seem to be (but Timis is)
Sibiu is there (and seems to have lots of "sub" towns, i.e you get offered a menu of more nearby places)
Brasov is there (but not too much detail, but maybee its very small)
Constanta is there
Iasi is there, again with lots of sub towns

Richard

please from my soul :) make a picture of iasi bacau constanta... at 100m zoom ..thanks...

Hi, when you enter/select (for instance) bacau, it then offers you a whole load of (i guess) small towns in the nearby area.

- this is shown in the first picture.

I then selected the first item on that list, looked at the map moved it to be centred on bacau (picture 2)

Then I zoomed in until it showed no more detail on zooming (picture 3)

Hope that helps

Richard

Hi, you are right - it doesnt seem to have the individual street names. No idea about how it compares against what navteq says

u hear something about the ntg1 dvd navigation 2010-2011???

Not yet. But MB gives no notice of map changes normally.

In fact they havent even officially told anyone what is in the NTG2 V12 disk yet (hopefully they will tell us more sometime, but they have been known not to say anything at all!!)

Richard

Does anyone know if this version has the Isle of Man on it?

Small rock in the middle of the Irish Sea, but a rabbit warren of roads.....

Does this version have the 7 figure post code on? I'm still trailing on Version 6 so some distance behind!

No. There isnt a Mercedes CD/DVD based navigation system that does have 7 digit postcodes, sadly.
