New website launched - feedback appreciated.

I'm of the Halda Speedpilot and OS map generation :o so not in a position to comment really, but I wish you success with the new site Alfie.

Have a look at some other retail websites for inspiration.

Mostly they comprise:

Logo/Title: The catchy bit, nice and large
sub title: The slightly more wordy bit saying who you are, but still less than 10 words

Pictures of top 3 to 5 unmissable special offers :)
Shopping Category tab (top or left)

I think within 5 seconds it needs to be obvious to the viewer who you are and what you sell. That'll keep them on the page clicking the links.

Nice site but..

When hovering over a menu item the pop-up text obscures some of sub-menu. Just a little irritating as one cannot see all the options.

Is it possible for the site to fill the window width? Most displays are now widescreen and the site sits 'squashed' in the middle..

i have a 19" monitor there is a 4" clear space at each side of the home page. could you not fill the screen, like this forum.

Iphone car kits - show the iphone in situ.

May I suggest that you actually say Iphone not included - or someone will assume it is ------------OR IS IT..LOL...

:D:D

Just tried your site: A "who we are" section would be nice and add to confidence for those who don't know you.

Wanted to check COMAND prices but couldn't find any. I looked a couple of times but just saw wiring looms and manuals, and an audio 20, maybe one COMAND at most.

The 2 seperate companies and contact details seems weird.

Hope this helps. Incidentally am trying to find out if you could repair or swap over my W209 pre-facelift unit which has developed nav CD reading faults.

Thanks/Barry

Hi Barry,

Thanks for your feedback, one more excellent point added to the very long list.

Comand (Europe) Ltd and Comand Online Ltd are two different companies because different people own them and they do different things.

Comand Online Ltd purely sells parts on-line. Comand (Europe) Ltd does retrofits - sometimes using parts from Comand Online Ltd, sometimes not.

Comand Online Ltd did at one point list COMAND units, but we got so much fraud that we stopped (3 units got chargebacks after delivery, and we lost the money). I think only one unit is listed as a result and it says "you must do bank transfer for this".

As to your Comand 2.0 - get a CD cleaning disk, the type with the little brushes and special liquid. Use very small amounts of the liquid and run 4-5 times - that fixes about 90% of units!

Cheers

Richard

Thanks Richard, I got a Philips cleaning CD (with little brushes). Actually the liquid in the kit I have is for cleaning CD's and it warns not to use on the brush for cleaning the lense. However I can't get the cleaning CD to run!

OK, PM Alfie, see if he is willing to take the unit out, dismantle and clean. Getting the CD drives is now very hard, (or replacing the lasers) - but can be done
