Hi

You may recall that I bemoaned the little persons of no father paternity before christmas when they stole my shiny star and keyed the car, costing several grands worth of damage, time and insurance claims!!

Well, the Police have caught the sods, they said the kids - 9 in total (14 / 15years old) were "having a game" - well, they did 140 badges and cost £1000's upon £1000's of damage to MB, BMWs, Lexus etc in my area.

Firstly I am surprised they have been caught, but the tone and stance by the police of "arhh they were only having a game" seems weak. It was preplanned, premeditated criminal damage by an individual above the age of criminal culpability. Lets have a vote and see how many get a caution, ASBO or slapped wrist.

You and I walking back drunk one night and kick a fallen twig on the ground would be hauled in the cells and charged with some nonsense.

A conclusion of sorts!

I guess one saving grace is that they've caught the little sods. Although if it was a "game" on such a scale - so they should!

Hope the little gits get a suitable punishment and not a trophy ASBO.

I had a moron break into my car in Gerrards Cross a few years ago, cut himself on the glass [police took blood samples and matched him to it] and not even get to court.

Nobody ever bothered to let me know why he got off - there was criminal damage, theft etc but if you are going to spend the money DNA testing......

Aren't the parents liable for damages caused by their offspring up to a certain age?

Surely now the third party has been identified and the insurance has the option of recovering their losses?

You also should be able to go through the small claims court to recover your excess from these little angels parents.

Out of interest whaere abouts in the country are you mate? I had mine keyed from the petrol cap back to the rear cluster and the badge nicked a while ago....... gonna cost me a bomb to sort out so leaving it till im in a nicer area though.

Im in Southampton by the way.

As far as im concerned there's no need for ASBO's......... just hang the little c@*%s...... i dont care how old you are you know that's not "a game."

Nothing gets me like having my car keyed..... at least if things get stolen its for a purpose.

GRRRRRRRRRR

If it had been my car, I'd have voted for 15 mins in a locked room, and ambulances on standby :D

Ahh retribution !!!!

The unseeming events happened in Sussex, Littlehampton in fact. I have contacted my insurer whom was most interested and they are pooling their actions (140 aggreaved motor claims) - so watch this space for civil action. Only problem is proving which little ,,,,,,, did which badge / keying etc

I am of the great belief, that we should return to Victorian values. I dont believe that this sort of thing would have happened 30 years ago, because if you wre caught by the Police you would get a good clip around the ear, or even worse the local Bobby would take you home to let your dad administer his punishment. And that was just for riding your push bike on the pavement or some other silimliar heanus crime.
Since the powers of Teachers, Police and Parents have been diluted by the nanny state , all these problems are coming to the fore front. In fact if you beeive that this badge collecting is harmless fun, you must also believe taht by the Police stopping them it must be causing their Human rights to be violated. Its nothing but a load of B*ll*cks.
