mercedes g wagon 1986
Hi all,new to forum, but have a situation with a mercedes g wagon 1986,fitted with a 380 v8 according to engine number. Have no fuel getting to distribution unit. Disconnected fuel line to unit and powered pumps,no fuel. Changed pumps, filter and regulator, still no fuel. Disconnected fuel line from pump, still no fuel, what am i doing wrong, thank you in advance,Lee.

Blocked tank outlet filter [ SLUDGE BUILT UP its inside the tank]? If the tank is vented to air but this is blocked a vacuum can build up internally preventing flow- easy to check by leaving filler cap off temporarily

Either the tank is rusty or there's no fuel in the tank. Mercedes has used this type of strainer for yonks. I'm not sure if that's what they use on the G-Wagon however but if there is rust, it will block fuel from coming out

TRY RIGGING UP A CLEAN TEMPORARY SMALL 5 LITRE ? " FUEL TANK" OF FUEL UNDER THE CAR [CAREFULLY!] AND SEE IF IT RUNS ON THAT?
ps these strainers can be a pig to remove if thats the problem as Al says and you may need to clean/ replace the main fuel tank iif its badly corroded
