hi

its been 1 month since i bought my R107. i have the new keeper supliment from the old V5, a reciept from the seller and the actual car.

i've yet to recieve the new V5. it says up to 6 weeks on the green part...

i've never had to wait this long though.... should i phone them or just continue to wait....?

Like you, my V5s usually come quite quickly, often 2-3 weeks.
But if they say it may take up to 6 weeks, then I gues you have to wait that long before calling them up.

you can get a form at the post office and apply (reapply) for owner ship. Have you checked if any when the old owner sent it off?

Hi just been through this the old owner taxed it for me so had to wait for him to send off the logbook which arrived about two/three weeks ago but with him as the keeper so had to send it off. Sent recorded delivery rang beginning of last week and they can tell if they have received it athough they said it would take a futher 5 working days to receive so would ring at least you will know if they have received it.

just done a dvla online check, and its come back with:

Date of Liability 04 02 2009

Year of Manufacture 1985

The information contained on this page is correct at the time of enquiry.

12 Months Rate £185.00

Vehicle Status Unlicensed with Keeper Change ... does that mean he has sent it off but they are still processing...?

Ring the DVLA. They are normally pretty helpful. Sounds like one part of the form has been lost.

Give them a ring and they can tell you the status. And/Or send off your new keepers supplement with a form from PO or print off internet and they send you a new logbook Free of Charge. :)

thanks. will ring them tommorow just incase.

my main concern is that the previous owner was moving abroad so may be uncontactable/no forwarding address and may cause problems on who legally owns it and i didnt want to leave it too long just incase he's gone. plus i've decared it SORN as i'm restoring it but i can tax it at any point but of course the tax disc would end up going to him instead of me.

I've had to send off for a new logbook twice now, but they are usually pretty quick to be fair.

My logbook took an absolute age the last time when a correction had to be made!¬

Yup, 6 weeks is the maximum waiting time and i always receive them within that time. :)

Just wait another week or two. It doesn't matter what the new keeper does anyway, as long as you've got your supplement.

If you ring them tomorrow - they'll ask the date of sale or transfer - and then just tell you to ring back in two weeks anyway ;)

Sometimes they turn up in as little as a week or so, other times it can take nearly the full six weeks.

No issues with who owns the car - the V5 does not prove any ownership rights - the receipt does that.

Same here, not received mine for the w210 :(

I sent one off recently for the golf and received it back in 10 days? Pretty quick I thought!:D

Who sent it off? You or the seller? id give it another couple of weeks otherwise fill in a new keeper form from post office. If you send the green slip with the application you wont have to pay.

Thanks

Jay

I'd suggest something is wrong here.

I brought my car from the dealer, had the V5 within 8 days (not working, just as per calendar), sent back same day to change to personal plate, new V5 back to me again within 3 days.

Now that's fast. But yours sounds very very very slow, which makes me wonder.

Hi just give them a ring they will give you the status. If they have no record it has either been lost in post or the new owner forgot to send it off, you can then then use the portion V5C/2 and a form V62 to obtain a new one if you do not have the V5C/2 i think they charge £25.
