I have a 1997 C180 Classic with 224000kms, but it looks new and drives like a new car. However, when it goes over the speed slowing road humps, I get a squishy, metallic sound coming from the shocks and wonder if its a useby date reminder. Elsewhere they make no sounds and the ride is excellent. No hint of leaks of the hydraulic fluid on the sides of the shocks like my other 1994 C180 which has fluid leak traces, but make no noises at all and ride well. The 1994 has 198000kms on the clock also, both high mileage. Just wonder if any of you have the same experience and what do you suggest besides simply changing them for newies? By the way the 1997 has 16inch factory alloys from a CLK and 215 Michellins while the 1994 has factory steels and 195 average quality tyres.
