I have just fitted a Comand unit and new CD changer to my ML320 (1999) and wanted to connect the phone that was already in the car when i got it. This was not installed by mercedes looking at the way it was done. The phone is a Nokia 6310i but i am unsure how it connects to the comand unit and what it will allow me to do. I understand i need a interface of some sort. Could anyone point me in the right direction or tell me what the part i need is :bannana:

I can't tell you what interface to use, but the 6310 does not work with early command systems. Unless you have bought a new command with new software you may need to revert to a 6210.

Is it just a Nokia CARK-91 kit - or the full integrated phone kit ?

You can tell by the shape of the cradle. . . . the phone sits flush in the integrated cradle, but the CARK-91 aftermarket kit "wraps" around it and is an entirely different shape.

As far as COMAND goes, would have thought it was the phone controller interface that would need to be for the 6310i, rather than the version of COMAND - but could be wrong here.

If its just the CARK-91 fitted, then no integration is possible, apart from telephone mute when a call comes in. You would need the full MB phone kit to integrate fully with COMAND.

Can help you out with some part numbers if you find that this is what you need, but its quite a costly add on.

What Kit do i need

Thanks for the information. The Car Kit is a Cark-91 but the comand unit is a 210 820 03 89. I had to adapt this to my car ML320 with CANbus adaptor. If the old kit is no good what is the new MB kit called and is bluetooth available for it. A brilliant forum keep the good work up. :bannana:

Shame that you couldn't get hold of a non-canbus 163 COMAND unit which is specifically for the ML !!

Never mind. The old phone kit will not be able to integrate with COMAND, as stated above.

The new kit is a variety of parts comprising of :-

Wiring loom, Fiber optic cable, Phone Controller Interface for 6310i, Phone Cradle for 6310i, E-Net compensator (if you are using T-Mobile or Orange). You'll also need a small adapter to splice the fiber optic lead of your existing CD Changer with that for the phone kit.

I have all of the above ready to fit to my car, but was able to obtain them via an eBay seller. Brand new from the dealer, you are probably looking at least £500.

If cost is not a problem, I will let you have the part numbers of everything I have. In fact, I will post them in the electronics forum for anybody that is interested, as this question gets asked quite a lot !

Just need to get them out of the garage, and write the part numbers down as I fit them !

Thanks Sym the part numbers is just the information i need. I noticed when i installed my CD changer there is a point in the fibre optic where i can attatch the phone or at least i eas told that.

Thanks for your help :bannana:

Hi Sym any news on the part numbers. I have looked to see if you have posted but cannot find it :bannana:

It is possible that your D2B cable does have an outlet for the Phone system electronics. If it is there and your CD changer works it will had to have a through connector fitted to it to bypass the outlet. The outlet is normally within 300-400mm of the CD changer.

There is a very good MB document on D2B version coding which is available. If you would like a copy, PM me your email.

I have a cradle for a 6310i, if you PM me your email I will send some pics.

I have just fitted the Nokia 6310i to my W210 and it's exactly as Sym said.......easy.

The only thing I would add to what Sym has said is to think about the antenna, I bought a combined GPS/GSM antenna off Ebay and replaced my dashboard mounted GPS antenna.

Good Luck :o

I have fitted the nokia kit to my W208 CLK with the cradle in the armrest. Is there a foam insert to tidy this up.

@Brecon - I will post them later today - promise !

@Dave - I have the same issue with the armrest, but need to get the top compartment first, and then see how it fits - I'm sure you could make something to fit it exactly, if there's nothing available.

Controller Unit (PSE) A 203 820 25 85 (May have been replaced with A 203 820 51 85, now.)

E-Net Compensator :- A 203 820 39 26 (If you are using Orange or T-Mobile)

The above needs a power loom, but I don't have the part number (same connection as for the optical CD Changer though)

Fiber Optic Loom (Long) :- A 163 540 52 09

I'm afraid the main wiring loom that I have does not have a part number (this also comprises the microphone) - but the dealership should be able to advise - depends on what car you want to fit it to really as they will be different lengths. The one I had was very long, came from a CLK, I believe, and I trimmed it down to size as all the components have been located towards the front of the car (hidden behind steel plate in passenger footwell) ; Has Power, Ground, D2B Wakeup wire, Microphone, and one other wire (black & white) which I couldn't work out the purpose of, but seems to work fine with it not connected to anything !)

Cradle . . . . again, TBA - The one I have has a 208 part number, but believe that there are several to fit . . . will post the exact number on mine later.

Sym the top box on the CLK is a A208 680 00 79 and is showing 28 euros in the MB price list. So if butcher mine I can get another.

Dave . . . . unfortunately, I need a whole new armrest lid for the 202, which has a split top compartment . . . roughly £100, if and when I get round to ordering it !!

I guess the 28 Euros is just the insert for the top compartment that actually holds the cradle.

Yip its the top box only.

Any joy with part number for my aerial?
