Notwens S204 C63 PPP

It could still be producing 487 horses... just depends on the dyno operator and the correction factor he was using to allow for the transmission losses, and ambient air pressure/temperature. 503 is only 3.28 percent more than quoted 487.... which is neither here or there and not many dynos are that accurate. With a few exceptions most cars produce at bit less than claimed....

Whilst I agree with what you’re saying in terms of the operator and their ability to deliberately or accidentally present a different result, these cars are known to produce 50X BHP on the dyno.

Former member Palmball posted about power outputs of this model quite a lot, here are a couple of posts on the topic.

Acid at MSL also said 99% of all ppp cars hes done they all were 500+ thats why i couldn't justify the cost of the 507 👍

5 years ago, I had my W202 C36 & C43/55 used for a magazine feature in Modern Classics magazine.

The journalist from that feature emailed me yesterday, to see if I knew anyone with a S204 C63 AMG for a magazine group test for a different magazine, your lucky day my friend...
As soon as I can divulge more, I will do.

Was part of the magazine photoshoot yesterday. Have ben asked not to share any group pictures, or info on the magazine and content, which is fair enough.
This was the only picture I took, without the other cars around.

One of the jobs I didn't get to do recently was remove the calipers for BCS to repaint, so they are coming off tomorrow to be sent away next week.

While not a fan of doing jobs twice, when I had replaced the front and rear discs, I noted that the park brake shoes were a little worse for wear. The backplates while not corroded through, their condition was niggling me.
Having done previous Mercedes rear backplates with a cut method, I was not relishing doing them. I happened upon an old thread on here, where TTmanUK had done his. It looked a lot simpler than ones I had done previously.
So, while the calipers were away at BCS, I ordered a pair of genuine backplates (as the price was negligible compared to aftermarket ones), along with genuine park brake shoe kit.

Rather than just rip into the new backplate, I cut the old one to do a removal to test the theory. Cut them between at the thinnest part and fed them over. Touched in the bare metal and built up.

Built up, with new hardware and the calipers back from BCS (picture makes the caliper look a bit pinky)

So... There was an element of man maths here.
When I was looking at doing the front discs, the front (composite aluminium bell, steel disc) PPP discs from Autodoc were £370 each (Brembo), (the earlier PP [2 piece bolted] discs were £421 each [again, Brembo], both 360mm).
Inchcape Mercedes were selling genuine 390mm for £343 each, granted I then needed the adapter bracket for a further £180ish (Mercedes Benz C63 W204 Bremsanlage 390x36 AMG Bremssattel Adapter 6-Kolben), but that's a minor detail.
I made a quick call to ClassicLine to make sure they were not going to nail my hat on for a brake mod, all good, no premium.
While I cant see myself ever hooning around a circuit to get the benefit of the bigger brakes, they do fill out the factory option 19" rim better.

Just as a weight comparison of C63 disc weights (according to Brembo):
Standard 360mm,16.1Kg
2 piece PP 360mm, 13.2Kg
Composite PPP 360mm 13.6Kg
2 piece Black Series 390mm 13.5Kg

Changed the front and rear flexi-brake pipes at the same time as refitting the calipers.
Changed/flushed the brake fluid too.

£486 but with vat/duty to be added ?

One of my pastimes/hobbies, is volunteering in Motorsport. Having been fortunate enough to compete at club level for a few years, it keeps me close to the action, without the big bills.
One of the roles I consider myself very fortunate to do, is driving the Safety Car.
Most of my volunteering is at Oulton Park, due to licensing they are mostly 1 day events I'm involved in (from memory, they can only run 3 Sat & Sun events a year, BTCC, BSB and something else).
The other circuit I support is Anglesey which are always a 2 (or 3 day) events, when I have done these I have stopped in a local hotel, which aside from cost is a bit of a faff, back and forth.

One of my fellow Marshals had bought a roof tent for his car, initially I was dismissive. When I started out circuit racing, we used to tent it, until a very windy visit to Pembrey destroyed the tent and we bought a motorhome. I felt I was too old and cold to go back. For only a few weekends a year, I couldn't really justify having another motorhome sat on the drive way.
Slowly the benefits on a rooftent shone through, easy to store, no ongoing costs, race circuits typically have good shower blocks and restaurant/bar. Roof tent was quick and easy to put up, and your not on a lumpy floor. The reduction in fuel economy[sic], is negligible in the grand scheme of things.
