A group of us will be making our way over to the Rhineland in spring. The first of our annual Nordschleife pilgrimage.

The dates are:

Leave UK Sat 12 April

Full day at the Nurburgring Sun 13 April

Half day Monday 14 April, leave for home after lunch.

Hotels we are using :

Hotel Am Tiergarten [email protected] (5 mins from the Ring)

Hotel Golderner Anker [email protected] (35 mins away, for those who would like to drive the glorious B257 through the black forest)

Do come along if experiencing the Nurburgring interests you. We are a friendly, sensible bunch :D

Hi. Thanks for the invite. I read it and thought "oh, that sounds fun". but then the reality is i would be way out of my depth and a liability to other track users - would not mind being scared witless by that Sabina woman who works there - she seems to be a demon driver.

have fun!

Am hoping to go in the summer. And, with all my cash going on the car at the mo - I can't stretch to two trips.
Pity, cos it sounds like fun and, it would be nice to meet!

Hope you have a great trip!!

Ey ey mattc - easy does it! Just the driving eh?? ;)

Have every intention to do a Ring trip this year. A mate & myself ( plus maybe another 2) are making plans ( or intend to) for later this year.
Do you have any costings for your trip mileage/petrol/channel crossing/hotels etc?

We have seen organised trips as a package fly/hire & Ring Taxi at about £400/pp:crazy:

I think we could do it lower cost but it depends on the channel crossing deals and Hotels

Have tried going around on Playstation and it sort of scares me ! especialy in my car

Any info appreciated:) :)

A typical weekend trip that we do will cost in the region of £500-600, depending on the car you bring. (most will go to petrol and track fees as we tend to do 20+ laps over 2 days). A lap of the Nordschleife cost 20 Euros. You don't have do that much.

Round trip is around 900 miles, to London. Eurotunnel £150 return, hotels 90 Euros a night. Tyres and brakes, last longer than one would imagine (I did 4 Ring trips with the same set of tyres last year and the rears still lasted 10k miles).

All you need to know www.nurburgring.org.uk :)

Don't treat it as a track day. You drive at the pace you're comfortable with. Just give way if you see a faster car coming up from behind, and keep an eye out for the motorcyclists. The Ring is officially a delimited toll road. You get everything from track prepped Porsches to London Black Cabs running round there!

Very often, you see something list this on the track! Full of tourists on board. So it's not at all hardcore.

Alternatively, just do passenger laps. You'll find Ringers very accomodating when you ask to join them for a lap. The majority of these drivers have their heads fully screwed on unlike some track days we see locally.

Even if you don't drive on the Ring, the drive there and back IMO is a worthwhile adventure. And the Ring car park, it's better than any motor show you've been too!

And the famous Pistenklause Restaurant, serving the best steaks and beer around!

I would have loved to have come but work commitments during April are just to heavy to leave at the mo. Plus i have to earn extra for all the recent mods. Have a good trip though - maybe next year, and i'm sure that you will come back with lots of pics to post. Must say some fine looking AMG's in the pics posted.

Who hired the Merc from Sixt for the trackday ? ;)

Great pics , would love to go to the 'Ring one day when funds allow !!

Thanks !

Nick,

Is that the clan from the BMW land forum going.

Some lovely cars their and will have to make a trip their for my brothers 'big' birthday a few yr away.

Think I would go for a week and have a couple of days at the track, a weekend but be a bit hectic (I've seen the some fotage of the dive their...)

Looks great though and great pictures.

It the local speciality. Argentinian fillet on hot stone. The stone plate is heated up to around 300 degrees and you cook the steak yourself. Pretty smart idea as you can never complain the meat is not cooked to your liking! It stays hot long enough to cook the steak 3 times over.

A BMW forum member. I was surprised the C200k actually stayed in one piece after the weekend! Talk about spanking a car! ..... lol :D

Yep, from EvoTechnik and BMWland.

A good friend of mine made this video on his first ever Ring trip several years back. He like many were very hesistant initially but now he's totally hooked!

You have it all wrong with your choice of cars though...

This is what you need.

Then fill it up with wine and beer on the way back :)

:D:D:D:D Sorry, brought tears to my eyes with laughter did that quote. I thought that was another slab of meat (Flat kebab) underneath the steak. Us Brits just don't know how to cook. As Peppernick has told us its a hot stone and as i don't have the pleasure of heated seats in my car i feel a slight mod coming on.

When I was there, there was a group of English guys going round in a blue transit, we were chatting to them in the car park and when we over took them they were hanging out of the windows and waving at everyone :D

Not sure I'd take the CE round as the temptation to rag it is likely to end in tears..

One everyone should do at least once..

The idea of being taken round in one of the taxis appeals.

Driving myself in the coupe would, as Ade B suggests, only end in tears as i don't think I could stop myself and balls would rapidly overtake my ability. i dont want that to happen as she's a good ride and I like being alive.

There's currently a 12-14 month waiting time for the Ring Taxi. I paid up last April and haven't heard any confirmation yet.

'..... you are on the waiting list' is the typical answer.

Might try and book for 2010 then - Its been there a long time and i am in no hurry!

Please can I go? ;)

Nick,

How would I go about booking the taxi? my brothers big birthday is in two years, can I book now? do you specify a date?

Thanks
