Hi

The big long bolt on the oil filter of my wifes 1993 300TD needs 2 little o rings at the bottom of the bolt, the genuine filter does not have these o rings and the EPC lists o rings that are the same size when clearly they are different sizes. Parts dept were of no help.

What does anybody else do?

I am led to believe that the non-genuine parts have the correct o rings which seems bizarre:eek:

They don't look to be the same size, but, they are! (the grooves on the shaft are slightly different, but, the o rings themselves are the same)

You can get them from MB for little money.

Hi

They look to be different size, will pull the bolt and photograph with calipers, the Non-genuine filter supplies 2 rings of differing sizes.

Hope your right

Thanks,

I had thought they were different too; when you look at them in-situ they certainly appear to be different sizes - it's exactly the same situation on W124 cars with the OM606 engine.

Cert look different sizes on mine and wifes cars, as i only use pattern filters they come with all the o-rings and they do need changing as mine were hard, but the trucks i service have same set up and the large top ring is changed but never the bottom smaller ones in the lifetime of the truck except for damage.
