When you, the dealer etc have done an oil change and have used the amount of oil as per the handbook - where should the level be on the dip-stick?

on acold bloch ie 4 hrs after car turned off just on the max mark be aware that syn and semi syn oil takes time to drain to the sump
if oil above then drain via sump plug 300 mls over is ok on a diesel ie oil burners but anymore will not do the car any good read the warning on the oil filler cap oilexpands when warm and can damage the air flow if way over max
never add what the manual says each car different mine 300 mls under the 6 litres i presume some left in the block

I found that my C250TD would 'breathe' a fair bit of oil into the inlet pipes through the crankcase breather if I filled it to the MAX mark, I always fill mine halfway between the MIN and MAX now, never have to top it up between changes.
