My MOT threw up a problem with some welding work with the rear jacking point on the 190E 2.5 16 I bought last year. An inspection today revealed that whoever repaired it welded a plate over a rusty jacking point, the plate has now completely corroded revealing a very crusty jacking point area. This will all have to be cut out and the main jacking point replaced.

Does anyone know if there is a replacement part for this from Mercedes? When I say jacking point I mean the main one that rises vertically from the underside that a workshop lift will impact, not the little tube that the jack goes into through the body panel.

I think they are all part of the same assembly. 2 vertical plates on either side of the jacking tube terminating in a flat plate at the base that a workshop jack would push on via the plastic buffer pad. Sometimes they can be repaired/fabricated in situ by a skilled welder. I have a feeling W202 parts which are similar are still available which might be modified. There were a few post about this a while back.

Altho if you are modding the part anyway either side might do??
