I had it on my black mk ii Capri, hid a nasty rust spot by the hatchback hinge!!

I have the Panoramic roof and love it , such great feature to have on a merc , would hate anything to happen to it :(
Cant believe an insurance company would not cover it as after all it is the roof

It is covered by insurance - just (often) not part of the 'windscreen cover'. I.e. you will lose NCD (unless protected) and have to pay a full normal excess - same as if you needed a body panel repaired.

As soon as i see this thread i rang them out of interest to see if i was covered for the roof etc
They said as long as the roof was fitted at the time of manufacture then it was covered .
If I was with an insurance company that wanted more or didn't want to cover that roof i would get rid of them.

I think what people should take from this thread is to check your policy to make sure you are getting the cover you require as clearly not all insurance companies offer the same level that the customer expects to be getting and that can be an expensive mistake!

I wonder how the total glass would be to replace on one of them twin panoramic roofs like whats in my w211 ? anyone know ?

IIRC the roof is about £3k for the parts alone.
