Having realised MB world Brooklands is relatively near where I live, decided to do a holiday trip with son (aged 6). We had a great time, and for a free attraction it is worth a visit if you like your MB. However, if you are prepared to part with some £ there is real fun on tap. I decided to have a passenger ride in an AMG with my son, which turned out to be a new shape CLS 63 AMG, which was cool as that is what I drive (CLS - though the previous iteration and 'not' an AMG). I have done red letter type track days before and know that unless you are a regular, you rarely get near the potential of the car, so to really experience the car it is best to go out with a professional. So out we headed and I had the most mind bending few minutes:eek::D. I couldn't get over the sheer grunt of the AMG (CLS is not a light car!), its ability to corner and the stopping power (from 105mph coming into sharp bend..) . A very talented young man threw the car round the circuit, doing things I would end up in the nearest tree/ditch if I even thought about doing. I loved every second, and would highly recommend it -was only £30 for me and £15 for my son - and that was probably just the fuel! Would adore to own one of those beasts, though must be so tempting to floor it at any opportunity. I knew I was envious before, but now massively jealous of any lucky folk in an AMG. Off to buy another lottery ticket.. Have also booked my car in for its next service there, and I might just have to book myself a further experience while I wait.. :)

Couple of pics attached. The CLS we went out in, and another lottery ticket car!

:D that looks like a designo mystic blue CLS :D

Did one a month back in an E63.

My missus bought me the passenger experience and i bought myself the driving experience. These things are animals.

When the Pro dealt with it, words failed me!

the car you were in might have been on the AMG floor originally ..

the wheels are different, but interior and exterior colours the same

Yes, it does like very similar. Not sure I would buy as an ex demonstrator! Might have a bit of wear and tear now!!

I did the same on Saturday in the E63, so same engine. The acceleration of the thing was incredible, especially down the straight and on the race start demos. No way would I want to buy one of those ex-demo cars the way they are thrashed all day.

This is not on my to do list. It's on my MUST do list. I have an AMG but I don't drive it to it's limits on the public road because you just can't. In fact I think I'm going to book one online now.

Glad you and your boy had fun. I took the cls 63 with ppp out on a driving experience last time i was at Brooklands. Very very nice and I was amazed at how well such big car handled on the tight track. I was hoping to go out in the C63 but on reflection it was good to have knocked the cls off my list of want to drive cars. I think I would go for a the e63 estate over the cls given a choice.

Treated my Dad to the 1 hour experience for his birthday in April - he might be 73, but had a great time and was buzzing for days after. It was about £135 from memory and the hot laps driven by the pro at the end of his session were pretty fast.

I've done Goodwood in several 911's and it is a seriously fast circuit. In fact I'd suggest it's probably the fastest circuit I've driven in the UK.

I'd always suggest taking advantage of a few laps with the instructors that are usually on these days as they can help you with the right lines through the corners - in more powerful cars you can hit 140+ mph on the straights and some of the corner speeds can be well into 3 figures... Great fun, but if you run out of talent things can happen very quickly!
