pela oil extractors

Thats just covering themselves. Take it for a spin just the same as if you were draining from sump plug. Also remove the oil filler cap. I'm sure you will notice a difference. Did you feel the tube able to hit the bottom of the sump or was something blocking its path?

Ok great I'll be sure to have it operating temperature next time. I felt the tube hit the pan well I think it was the pan (it must have been as I got 8 ltrs out) thanks for ur advice good deal on in eurocar parts as with online code "Easter20" you get a further 20% discount

To put some numbers on it:

Viscosity of cold oil at 10 Deg C would be approx. 300 cSt.
Moderately hot oil at 65 Deg C would be approx 30 cSt

That means it would flow 10 times faster.

I had the whole thing done in under 20 mins and the only problem caused by really hot oil was it softened the suction pipe so that too vigorous pumping could collapse the pipe.

I'll swap hot oil down my shirt sleeve for oil extraction any day.

Great thanks for shedding some clarity, I can't wait till next oil change now lol

Hi,

Just did mine today with my Sealey 6.5 ltr pump.

I'm a total clot when it comes to anything mechanical or DIY but managed this no problem at all with oil filter change as well.

I ran my engine up to temp on a quick drive, left it for about 10 mins and then sucked out over 8.75 Ltrs in around 15-20 mins.

Had to stop at 5 ltrs, drained that into an old oil bottle and then did the rest including the oil filter canister.

I watched a Youtube video of someone doing this where they loosed the oil cap and oil filter first and let the oil filter drain whilst the pump was doing its thing. I did the same today and
It worked fine.

For a job so simple it always amazes me what Main Dealers charge to do this.....yes a service involves more than just an oil change but even so. Genuine Filter and 10 ltrs of Genuine Mercedes Oil for about £48 isn't too bad.

Good luck with next Oil Change.

Dealers do have big overheads. Many seem to forget this when complaining.

The closest dealers do is the 7+ Value Service, which consists of oil and filter change plus some basic checks, and costs £120-£160 (depending on the model of the car).

Kwik Fit charge between £70 and £130 for same, albeit not using MB parts.

Sounds reasonable, if you factor in labour, VAT, and overhead costs including admin staff.
