the blue tits in our nesting box just outside the patio doors have chicks and today was the first time they looked out.

We have an old disused brick barn that Swallows (and I think House Martins) nest in every year ... they're constantly swooping round the yard and in and out through the doors:

Behind it there's a modern barn that we use all the time - and that's where a pair of other birds (not sure what they are ) decided to nest, in an old horseshoe on a beam directly behind the Vito's tailgate ... where our 10 dogs get in and out! This nest isn't much more than a metre off the ground and our two young cats are also in there pretty regularly, but the chicks hatched this week and touch wood seem to be doing OK so far.

So our four pied wagtail chicks survived :) I was stacking firewood in the barn last night and took a picture of them looking quite grown up:

Today the nest is empty and they are all flying around! Got a few pictures of the parents in the yard:

Great pic's - especially of the adult birds.

Not sure if it's commonplace, but all the pied wagtails I've ever seen seem pretty fearless. At a previous house we had a family of them raised nearby and they'd happily chase off much bigger birds that tried to invade their territory (or compete with them for food!).

Yep the parents were keeping a very close watch last night only a few metres from one of our young cats who was lying under the front of the Vito looking out into the yard (it's amazing neither of them ever spotted the nest). The chicks seemed quite unflappable - apart from the dogs regularly going in and out of the van I've had to get ladders out a couple of times, and the nest is on the wooden beam directly behind:

Arranged a test drive a the local P dealership yesterday , was told the vehicle will be waiting for you when you arrive.

Saw this being maneuverer into the carpark and was just waiting on Jeremy Beadle jumping out from somewhere.

Thankfully the one i was testing was a little more refined and a tad quicker.
