Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me. My dad has an N-reg, 1994 E200 Auto, with the green/red indicator led's on the front door handles and on the boot. Yesterday, the main key fob just stopped working. Assuming it was the battery in the fob, i took them out and took them to the store to show them what i needed. After replacing the batteries, the fob still didn't work. I've rang several mechanic friends as well as Mercedes, all of whom say the fob most probably needs re-programming with the car. Even worse, Mercedes themselves said if we opened the door with the key, the ignition would turn and the car would run as normal, except we couldn't arm the alarm, however, the car WON'T start, i take it there is an immobiliser stopping it from doing so. We're at the end of our tether on this one, we could give it to the dealership for fixing, at 95 quid plus VAT, and would do that as a last option. Does anyone have any other ideas? OR can anyone at least suggest ways to disarm the alarm/immobiliser and at least drive the car?

Your help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

you need to synchronize the key and the car

1, point the transmitter at either of the receivers then press the button

2, put the key in the ignition lock and turn it to position 2 within 30 seconds

you should then be ready to use the key again

Thanks Andy, just after i posted this, my dad, frustrated as hell, took apart the key fob to make sure everything inside was ok, and lo and behold, there were a couple of connections on the circuit board that had come loose, so he soldered them together and it worked!!!!

Cheers
