Porter Cable Polisher

How quick is that - it's arrived!!!!!

(certainly faster than the forum is this aft :D :D )

I disagree with Raj, yes of course if you use the wrong compunds etc it will damage the paint, but it is just a forum, the same as this one, and if your not sure just ask.And are not all professionals.
What is useful is there are lots of links to different trade sites which you can purchase from.

i was reffering to the amount of money being spent on products most people wash 1-2 cars in a household, which is why i said its their living and they can justify spending on variuos tools and products the average joe is not going to spend those amounts to clean a car.
And if you use a rotary or a PC with the strong polish it will eat into your laquer then the paint, the detailers use a paint thickness gauge to measure how much they have to play with, againg going back to more costs...
I agree it is a awesome website, but what im trying to say is as a person who has 1-2 cars like most households you would need to draw the line at somepoint as it can go on forever buying prodcuts and tools to clean your car.

Get it from Autopia. I just ordered some stuff on Friday and it arrived on Tuesday. I got some Polycharger to turbo charge my wax :D :D I used paypal and got 1.95 dollars per pound.

I still occasionally get brownie points from Autopia by the odd member buying stuff from them so if you can use my link on the power polishing thread with the stickz as you purchase. I may get a free polishing pad on day.

They are also a nice ethical business and all there warehousing supports people with learning disabilities and physical handicaps when the stuff arrived there is a nice leaflet telling you about the business.

Be happy to oblige ;) For me it's about getting rid of the surface crud that accumulates as much a great shine :D and then a silky wax finish too that looks the best it can.

Don't use the polisher to get a smooth finish on dirty cruded paint. You MUST clay the car to get the silky finish with no contaminents, then polish it for a swirl free smooth shine.

If you've never clayed the car befor you're in for a treat...:)

And dont forget to lubricate the clay during the cleaning with a spray on top up wax or similar

I bought the Meguiars kit that has a lubricating spray with it ;)

Will be going for a good play next Friday - will do before and after pic's. Am looking forward to the whole experience - just hope the weathers decent or we're stuffed!! But only for the initial wash where I guess the fact it's raining won't matter - but it's going to be nice!! After that hopefully we'll be able to be under cover if it is manky.

Thank goodness this is in a car forum, sounds like something from a swedish film:bannana:

mine arrived today :D :D

not any time until next weekend to try it out

Bank Holiday weekend looks good for Polishing

I am getting the Porter Cable out this weekend. Plan is clean cars Friday night, give them a quick going over with Detailing spray on Saturday morning at 7am, Porter Cable activated at 7.30am. Using Polycharged products to see what happens. Results should appear by 11am.

12 noon start drinking beer and have a BBQ.

Neighbours are also joining in with my mad idea, steeling my stuff I suspect but who cares it is good fun.

Why get up at 7am? because if the sun gets to hot on my car it will ruin my fun:cool: I will have shade until 11 am on my drive.

By the way, if you do buy a PC from Autopia use my linky, neighbours keep using my stuff and I need some more pads;)

Bobby Dazzler you wont regret it. We can all have a PC Party :bannana: (very politically correct ;) )

Do use the Autopia guidelines and the links on the Power Polishing sticky thread before using it but you can not go wrong they are so easy to use and are idiot proof.
