Went to see my brother in law at weekend, he has an A Reg VW Scirroco CL that he bought as a project, it runs and is Taxed / MOT'd but I don't think he will get round to it, not many of these on the roads anymore considered buying it off him and looking at a restoration job...... but sadly doubt it would be worth the spend when finished.....its only got something like 30,000 miles from new.

Now if it had been the GTi..:D

Perhaps one for the VW forum, I'm sure there's an enthusiast out there who would be willing to spend the time / cash on it.

My memory of the original scirocco is that the steering wheel didn't align with the seat making for an awkward driving position in an otherwise awesome car!!

a customer of mine has one with a 16v Golf mk2 engine running carbs on it.

I used to love my older brothers metallic green MK1. When he was at work I used to use my dads MK3 Cortina keys to open it and pretend to drive it:D

Sorry, just a random memory brought up by this thread.

My memory is of the instruments being sunk down long tubes , deep into the panel .

I had a MK1, loved the look of them from when they first came out 1975 I think. Mine was a '79 in silver, great seats as I recall.

For some reason it had a Ford radio fitted when I bought it which was promptly stolen, Karma or what?
