Hello

With the price of petrol / derv and many posts on saving fuel, driving style etc.

Why don't we have a thread with your millage per tank, not a one off journey where you set the cruise at 56mph behind a lorry :)

So from Brim to Empty, if you can obviously get the Litres you put in to fill it back up :)

eg,

500 miles took 45 litres (9.91 Gallons) so 50.454 mpg.

OK this is what we would like

Car Make / Model: eg, Mercedes 200TE W124 auto
Tank Range: what is says on the trip (500)
Fuel to fill up in Litres or Gallons: 45 litres
Actual Mpg : if you have worked it out (not computer mpg)

Thought it may be interesting....

Hi!

I've posted my record tank so far few weeks ago:
603 miles :)

Cheers
Chris
(will edit it later with all details - sorry)

Car Make / Model: Mercedes c230 kompressor W202 auto
Tank Range: 430 miles based on mpg vs tank size
Fuel to fill up in Litres or Gallons: 62 litre tank (although I have a receipt somewhere for nearly 65 litres!)
Actual Mpg : Since late 2004 it's averaged almost exactly 30mpg

Car Make / Model: Mercedes C240 Sport W202 auto
Tank Range: 330-340 normally - occasionally 410 if I can push a 5th commute out of it (and haven't done much else in the week)
Actual Mpg : since 09/2007 it's averaged 29mpg (14K miles)

My C230K (pre-face lift) the same on average, have got upto 465 miles per tank once
C43 AMG anything from 180miles to 340miles a tank never worked it out exactly mpg wise (to scared too).

W211 (New rental - the one I hide at the back at the GTG) - 764 from a full tank to the last 20 with the light on...all on the motorway though.

All I know is it is diesel, and I brimmed to the top. I'll look under the lid before I return it, but I'm guessing it's an E220. It will possibly do better - it only has 900 on the clock....

E300turbo.
Last tank 35mpg on 80% veg, no viscous fan, general use, over last eight years 32.5mpg average.

W124ce 230
430 miles, 60 litres = 32mpg mixed driving in rush hour within M25, not driving too gently.

177,000 miles

Mull of Kintyre - Preston, Lancs. 600 miles per week return. Average MPG = 36. .......80% of the journey is motorway, 70 MPH

That's from a 2.6 V6 petrol.

Full range of driving, 90 litre tank but it gets filled when thereserve light comes on.

1991 Mercedes 500E
550km - 75 litres
343 miles - 16.6 gallons

20.6mpg

Worst was 340km till reserve light from Heysham to Peterborough - 12.4mpg

Best was 650km from 75 litres and that is 24mpg

Mileage doesn't change much whether i'm sat at 70mph or 120mph luckily so it's not too much of a hit.

Dave!

S320 Petrol Year 2000. 13 miles_43 Mins. 19mph. 18.4mpg. That was my run to work this morning at 7am.

W211 E320CDI (Dec 2004) 501.2 miles, 52.8 litres to refill tank. 43.1 mpg. That was one trip to and from Heathrow and one to and from my company's HQ in West Ealing. Best I've managed and I didn't think I'd changed my driving style. Still achieved 120 miles in two hours (with the first mile in London taking 25 min).

Average over last 3900 miles 40.3.

Average since new (48746) 38.6.

OK so this doesn't meet the rules but I managed 29.5mpg on a steady 70 mile journey today, mainly motorwar with some A-roads. That was without trying, and was chuffed.

Until Dazzler Snr said the Honda Jazz 1.2 that my Mom drives has averaged 43.6mpg over the 12 months they've had it - that's a petrol by the way!!

Amazing considering she never goes further than 3 miles, and it's been on the motorway once!!

I actually went on a motorway today, first time in around 3 weeks

I did notice that while I was sat there at my caravan cruising speed of 60mph on the cruise there were A LOT of cars all crusing...

Now this was at 5pm so home time ish for most people, never normally like that in the 'slow' lane.

I think even a bmw was in the SLOW lane....

I think even a bmw was in the SLOW lane....

You must have been on the wrong side of the carriageway..

I've noticed that it's difficult to use cruise at 70mph for any duration now, you have to keep slowing down.

1992 300SL 12valve adveraged 26.41mpg on this years run to Le Mans and back on motorways A Roads B roads traffic jams and town driving total miles 1006.

my e320 gave 29mpg back and forward to work over a three month period. Very hilly, but only stopping a couple of times. Then for no apparent reason it dropped to 27mpg.. no loss of power, indie said a oxygen sensor.. so replaced but still 27.
I'm in the middle of testing my 230k clk.. on the same route... be interesting to see.
steve

I have a c180 manual pre face lift w202. I do about 60 miles daily and get around 32-35 mpg with 80/20 split motorway town driving.

From a tankful i normally get 420-430 miles which is again similar mpg.

Best i achieved was a 5 day 3000miles round trip through London-Amsterdam-Frankfurt-Zurich-Paris-London. From Amsterdam-Frankfurt doing the maths i achieved 44mpg cruising at 110-120mph and topped at speed of 130 mph on the autobahns:devil: while the car had 4 adullts and was full of luggage. While the whole trip averaged at 38mpg. :bannana:

Now i dont have a clue how it happened but i checked the miles against the liters of fuel.

OFF THE TOPIC
Does anyone know whats the most economical motorway speed for a C180 w202. I have tried 70-100 none of them make any real difference when it comes to filling up.
Is LPG Conversion worth it as the fuel costs are unbearable.
