Problem with CD Changer in my W210

I have suddenly developed a problem with the CD changer in my E55, namely it doesn't seem to want to work, it won't play the CD and it won't eject either. Its associated with the Autopilot and everything else is working perfectly. It took a bunch of CD's in the other day and was working perfectly, it then showed NO CD on the autopilot screen and now won't eject at all.

Any clues ??? Or at least helpful hints as to removing my CD's ?

Take the changer out and take it apart. I suspect it is knackered. I am sure there is someone that can repair it.

Not sure, but the eject button lights up when you push it and it seems to be doing something. Its like its stuck.........

They break...end of. These units are carp...mine has never worked for me.

Hi,
If the eject button illuminates it won,t be a blown fuse, and the fact that the display is saying "NO CD" I would say that the fibre optic connection is ok.
It sounds as if one of your discs is jammed, I believe over time what happens is the grease goes hard and jams the mechanism.
I found my C43 had the same problem, having stripped an repaired several changers before I decided to take the changer apart and fix it.
It would be to complicated to talk you through it (no disrespect on your ability intended), if you are within travelling distance of Southampton I could take a look at it for you if you want, by the way what is the model number of the changer?

Andy, thanks, no I'm in north Hertfordshire, I'll take a look at the unit and see if I can see a model number, where would that be ? It'd be good to have a chat through with you, is there a way I can get a PM to you on this site ??

Andy I have made you one of my contacts, I don't know if that means you can contact me, but any advice here would be really helpful.........I have 6 of my favourite discs stuck in the bloody thing !!!! ;-)

You cant send or receive a PM till you have 30 posts.

Andy, now I have 30 posts ! So should be able to receive a PM and maybe you can give me a hand if you'd be so very kind !

Andy I have tried to PM you but your box is full.......

Drop me a line (if you'd be so kind to sean dot parr at gmailand then a dot thing and com at the end

Is there a way to replace OEM CD changer with MP3 changer? If so how can this be done?

I had a problem with my changer, kept coming up with "no disc" and wouldn't eject the magazine - even though I could hear the motor whirring.
I took the stereo out when I changed the heater control panel and after removing and refitting the fibre-optic connector it all started working. Weird I know, but it did it for mine. Just a thought before you start taking your changer to pieces!

My CD stacker (Apline MC3198) was giving a 'no disc' error despite the fact that the magazine was full of the last owners Cd's and CDRs. I took it out, and dismantled it and put it back together still no joy. I found, using an eBay search, Car Audio Technics in Brentwood, who do a fixed price (£65 + £10P&P) repair service.

I sent it last Monday, they posted it back to me on Friday. It is now back in and working, so very happy with the service.

The last owners CD's were included with a sticker warning that the unit was not designed to take CDRs. Whether or not this caused the problem, or what it was, I have no idea.

Thanks Davo and C270CDi, all good advice. Don't know whats worse though, taking the CD Changer apart, or removing the stereo !!!
