Hi. has anyone bought a car from merc seller. Richard owns it and provides a referral service for matching buyers and sellers.. Has any one had problems with him? or his service? Has anyone had a trust issue?

I just want some advice as i have found his cars to not be as he described them to be.. He has lots of positive feedback, but so far, i have been totally dis-satisfied..

let me know your own experiences from merc seller dot com

yes I have posted about him in the past and then received abusive emails from the chap... i backed off as I would probably have been told off by the mods otherwise..

I found my initial post about them and maybe i was a little harsh on them at the time...

but this was/is my view on them..

http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=175067&postcount=35

my main issue is that they are basically a classified advertiser but make it out to be a lot more than that... and of course try to charge a premium for that..

As far as I know Richard is totally reliable and has been for years.

Logic tells me that everyone has to validate their own transactions. How is that different from eBay ?

If it's the same Richard that I bought my car from, then you're right. It was not as he described it. It was better.

deleted confused over names....

Sigh.

Perhaps a mod could delete combine 2008newbie's 3 m e r c s e l l e r threads into one?

Deleted at crockers request.

Different Richard I believe, but your last two sentences hold true for whoever 2008newbie is talking about.

In that case I will delete my thread can you please delete the quote from yours thanks :D

Hi.

thanks for the replies. I am new as i am new to mercedes-benz.

I simply am not looking at putting any one down, but simply to get some experiences about this company. Appologies..

As i said, alot of positive feedback on his site, from some high profile individuals, but a car described as hassle free, on arrival had so many evidential problems, i was shocked that they were missed, or that Richard and the seller had not agreed on them etc..

So before i do future viewings to save me wasting time, i just want second and third opinions so as to know should i be looking elsewhere, paying a little more, but getting the backing of a dealer opposed to an entrepreneur. He knows his stuff, but there is also talking for the sake of talking, which i, again, just would like second or third opinions.

thanks

Could you explain how the website works and how it affects you ? I cant seem to figure out why a car is more valid on this website and what Richard had to do with it.

How come 2008newbie's original post was edited by GrahamC230K? Is that because Graham is a Mod?

There were 3 threads that had to be sorted. I deleted one and merged two. The merged post ended up with the first two posts being the OP's original first posts from the two threads. The first post made least sense, but couldn't be deleted as deleting the first post of a thread deletes the thread. So the first post was edited to be the content of the second post (before it was deleted) which as the original first post of one of the orginal duplicate threads. So now it shows as edited by me. Still with me? :D

I wish I hadn't asked now! I lost it in line two! :D

Richard of M e r c s e l l e r sold a car for me & did a great job.

Richard sold the car over the phone to an offshore buyer, picked the buyer up at the airport, brought him to the car, brought the car to the indy the man picked to inspect it & held his hand throughout the deal, which took a whole day.

He was worth every penny of his commission, I'd use him again & recommend him to anyone.

I puchased my 190E 2.6 from Richard.

This was his personal vehicle and I must say I found him honest, polite and most helpful.

wow

Neil, wow, sounds impressive and i am happy for you.

But you being a seller, if you car was only average and had problems, but had been described to the buyer as immaculate by Richard, then when the buyer turns up with Richard, that really is not going to keep the buyer happy is it, epecially if it is a 4 hour drive each way.

Ofcourse good experiences and bad experiences can be heard from all sides, i purely am just looking at what is beng discussed about this guy!

He has a great collection of cars on his site, but he really is overly sure of himself.. well that is my opinion.

Im sure he can take the stress out of your sale, but as a buyer, its nothing but stress at the moment for me.. well for the last few months anyway

'08newbie,

Thanks, I'm happy you're happy for me too.

You're light on details.

What was the car & what was wrong with it? Is it such a rare car that you need someone to find one? What are you trying to buy?

Do you understand M e r c s e l l e r is an advertising site much like ebay & Autotrader & not a dealer?

If Richard isn't your cup of tea keep on looking.

There are a dozen MB specialists out there, you'll probably find one of them palatable enough to do business with.

etc, etc. etc.

What are you looking for?....I have a 129 and a 126 for sale:D :D
