Problems with my insurance company

Surely you could 'sell' it to your dad, and then he puts you on as a named driver ??

I used to insure my CRX VTEC with my dad as the owner but me as the 'main named' driver.

At the moment my dad owns three cars with insurance all in his name three seperate policies with three different companies , any driver,

Get your dad to 'buy' it off you and then just either insure it any driver or put you as the named driver ......

Sorry to hear of your woes KLP... I feel your pain.

However, if it makes you feel any better, you can always sell me your brabus or even lend it to me till your 25 if you wish

Bad news. Sorry I can't be of much help I'm afraid. I am surprised that you were insured for under a grand at your age though.
(I knew there were some advantages to getting older!)

Well unfortunately for a trade policy its over 25s only.
The £1000 was under my dad's name! They wouldn't touch me on a Brabus at all otherwise!
I only purchased the car because i found out that insurance was at a reasonable price!
I haven't received any points or convictions either.
Well looks like i'm open to offers on the Brabus!

Have you tried MSM insurance, they do great price insurance on kit cars and smarts and also do classic cars? worth a try!

Good luck, I had some major probs with my Smart when I first got it, LHD import and the oldest in the UK, I was only about 19/20 at the time too!

Decided that i will get my dad insured on it till i can sell it. I don't really want to pay that kind of money for insurance and be restricted to 1500 miles.
I will see what kind of money it fetches and then decide.

yeah but he came down on the price and i spent another £4-5k on it to make it perfect.

From personal experience the only company who will touch a car like this is HIC with your age. They also insure all your cosmetic mods at no additional cost. They work on the principle that is you buy and modify your car, take it to shows etc then you are the kind of person who will look after your car. Definitely worth a call.......
