Problems with my insurance company

Just a thought, when getting quotes, do you insure the vehicle as one driver only, if you do, put your dad on as a named driver, the policy will normally reduce. My son has a 300+BHP Imprezza which he bought when he was under 25 and pays around the £1000 mark with would you beleive Direct Line. I am on his policy as a named driver. Apparantly shows sme form of stability in your life  worth a try

Totally agree with Geoff. I always had my Mum as a named driver which use to reduce my policy by £200

My policy came down by £180 when I removed my mum as a named driver, that was with Directline. If anyone can explain that one I'd be happy to listen!

I just played with Directline and it deducted £50 from the premium when I altered it from a single driver, to husband and spouse?

They obviously know we are a happily married couple??

Hmm...If your insurance is for a 12 month period and they finish it before the period is up then they could be "breaching the contract" by ceasing the insurance. Take on board what Flash states re the small print but sometimes thats not worth the paper its written on. Most people dont challenge the small print. Maybe worth seeking legal advice from a no win no fee solicitor....its worth a try.

I would but it clearly states that they refuse the right to cancel/or withdraw form the policy at their discrection etc. And they gave me 7 days notice so apparently i'm stuffed!
Well hopefully i can sell it for a good price.

Previously with Bell. They explained that premiums reduced with spouse as named driver as in the event of tiredness/illness/drunkedness then the other named driver could take over, reducing the risk of an accident. Put the then partner on, and hey presto saved a fewhundred quid!!

Their is an Insurance 'ombudsman' you can complain too. Personnally I would be tempted to insure it elsewhere then take the origonal insurance Co to the small claims court for the difference.
This assumes you provided your insurance Co with the correct info in the first place.
I know they can withdraw insurance at any point, but they require a valid reason. If they have only just realised your age eg, is not a valid reason. Nor is it if they made a typo in their internal documentation. They entered into a contract, they have broken the contract.
