Proposed changes to the MOT Test.

You're taking this all too seriously. It's only a motoring forum, full of overweight grumpy middle aged men ;)

My point was: the thread looked to have died on 11/8/12. You then started it up again today. What are you looking for? A hug? :)

Here's one: ****HUG***

All better now I hope.

Well i used to live in Brittany , the mot is called a ct Control technic its done every two years and costs or did 42 euro , its done at a ct centre where your vehicle is tested thats all they do , if it fails you have 2 months to fix it in after the 2 months you get charged full amount , if you sell a car in france it has to have at least 18 months of the ct remaining if not you have to put a full ct on it free of charge or if you dont want to bother your vehicle is sold as spares or repair , anyway i thought it a great idea to have an mot every two years unlike ripp off britain where its every year utter none sense just another way of ripping people off , i personally prefer an mot done at a proper testing station not a garage as most will take the mick and fail it just to get the repair work that doesnt need doing .
I would like to see the mot changed to 2 years plus to be done from a mot testing station where they are only interested in the vehicles road worthy ness nothing else .

try disagreeing with him? or offering a dirrerent point of view? or if you are brave say he is wrong, then he will bully you. or call you names, a 7 day ban proved that, maybe another 7+ day ban may help.

I've only just seen this and feel it needs a response. (I know...I know...)

Are you referring to the incorrectly imposed ban, that was lifted once it was found that it was indeed Me that was being verbally assaulted and harassed both on forum and in PM...to which I had the good grace to not respond to.

Or maybe you mean a different one that neither I nor anyone else but you know about? :dk:

Anyway, have you got your badly maintained wrecks off the road yet...you want to be careful no-one reports you to the VOSA smokeline.

Telephone the Enquiry Unit on 0300 123 9000

Maybe the garage will have the last laugh, yet?

Refund for MOT = £30
Phone call = 20p

Your smoky Toyota getting crushed = priceless.

I was wondering if an insurance company would be interested in the "modification" to the engine to make the car pass the smoke test...

Then I realised that if you're dodgy enough to do that to get the car past the MOT; you probably won't have insurance either... after all, that's just a conspiracy from the government to make you pay more money...

Answer this if you are brave and can stand up to dieselman, yes i modified my car and it passed the smoke test, if you have read what i did, i left the mod on, so are you saying that it is not fit for the road?. why? it passed on the fast pass (0.80) if you think its not fit for the road, then the mot test is wrong?. or a waste of time? and just because someone like toyota or mercedes do a mod thats ok? some of us on here are fixers not part changes (dieselman), i think you are a bit stuck here, mot no good or my car..;). which one

voy2age, stop trying to start a fight. it brings the forum down.

i'm not bring the forum down, its just talk. relax:rock:
but!! i have raised i interesting point, if i do i mod on my car which improves the emissions, so it can pass the smoke test, what is the problem? the problem is that some people on here who are part changes or rule follows don't like it. the fact that some companys like mazda or bmw use mods that stop particulars coming out of the tail pipe is ok in their book, but not the little man. if my toyota passed the test and the mod is left on the car then it is fit for the road or the test is an ****.
so the guys on here are stuck really, if my car is no good for the road then they are saying the test is not fit for purpose, what next, will these guys on here not allowed us to change the air filter or oil before the service is due, because the engine should be ok and this may help to pass the smoke test. then what about the guys who remove the EGR valves or buy plug in boxes to improve their cars.
with the help of guys like dieselman we will not have a need for forums like this because we will not be allowed to do anything with our cars.

except take them to big dealers and pay through the nose.

no thanks deiselman, i'll keep fixing my car and at £85 for service and repair for last year on a 9 year old car and £120 for a 17 year car, i must be doing something right.;)

btw the cost at a dealers for the work on both cars would have been about £1200 ish.

Have you declared the modification to your insurance company?
